ADALBERTO AGUIRRE is Professor of Sociology a the University of California-Riverside. His primary research interests are in the areas of sociolinguistics, sociology of education, critical race theory, and higher education. He has authored books and research articles on such topics as race and ethnic relations. affirmative action in higher education, sociolinguistic theory, and criminal justice. He is the author of the ASHE-ERIC Higher Education Report, Chicanos in Higher Education: Issues and Dilemmas for the 21st Century (1993).
