5.0 out of 5 stars Eye-opening and powerful., June 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Women and Their Fathers: The Sexual and Romantic Impact of the First Man in Your Life (Paperback)
Reading this book was such an eye-opener. It made me identify areas of my life deeply influenced by my relationship with the first man in my life. The truth in its pages was crushing at times, but also a wonderful challenge.

This review is from: Women and Their Fathers: The Sexual and Romantic Impact of the First Man in Your Life (Paperback)
Mentioned in the excellent book Emotion: The On Off Switch For Learning, by Priscilla L. Vail (see pages 128-129). Discusses the distant father, the good enough father, the demanding father, the seductive father, the absent father, and the doting father. Discusses how the "emotional stances" of adult women may be traced back to what their relationship with their father was like. Very true for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Women and Their Fathers - book, October 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The author of this book (Victoria Segunda) helped me immensely in learning to understand myself,my relationships, and in preserving my self esteem. "Women & Their Fathers" spoke directly to me in such a way as to assist in answering my questions & varifying some of my own beliefs. The chapter on "The Maverick Daughter" had me weeping early on, as it described me so accurately. By the time I had finished it, my self-dignity had been restored & I was able to accept myself as different but very "O.K.". Most of my life I had felt like a misfit in my New England family. My sense of adventure stirred my wanderlust & desire to listen to the beat of a different drum -which I did, but often with great guilt. Ms. Segunda helped me to understand & accept myself - just as I am. Each & every chapter is of genuine value & worthy of being read by each & EVERY female of all ages.
