Kathleen Hayes opened my eyes to the life of women (and men) in El Salvador. Based on TV, my only images of this country were of soldiers and death. She introduces us to a group of women who try to put their lives into perspective through their faith, while living in an impovrished land with strongly masculine values.While focusing on a small group of Baptist women, telling their stories in their own words with analysis by Hayes, this book truly tells the story of all Salvadorans. Highly recommended for those interested in learning about the real Central America. |
