Book Description

Up to now, most time management books have been written by men who don't understand female biology or female socialization. Is it any wonder that those time management books don't work well in relieving the pressures working women routinely face?

Effective time management is about putting in place solutions for what working women routinely face at work and home.

The concept for the book came about because of very real, very important needs that female clients repeatedly express. Year after year, the authors have heard working women’s frustrations, and have helped them deal with massive internal conflicts. Both society and individuals struggle with countless expectations, too much to do in too little time, and the fact that they receive little of the support or recognition they want—and deserve.

The book is intended to help a woman understand and work with her unique inner compass. Self-coaching insights help you to do the things you really want to do and to become the person you want to be. When you put these newly adopted coaching tips into practice, everything that comes your way becomes organized.

Your systematic decision-making results in clarity, productivity, accountability and empowerment. You easily manage commitments and projects by defining critical objectives and implementation details.

You and your teams do what each of you does best, becoming highly productive while achieving desired outcomes with minimal stress and maximum result.

“Women and Time” delivers proven time management tips that reduce stress and help you reclaim your time and life through better work/life integration..

This self-coaching book is fully loaded with unique insights for time-strapped women:

How to manage stress

Meeting expectations: Theirs and Yours

Changing outdated beliefs

Mastering the skill of focus

How to set goals

How to schedule think times

How to negotiate what you want

How to establish priorities and delegate

Why your attitude is everything

As you read the book, you will be amazed at what you learn about yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing new for me February 4, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you haven't read any time management books before, you'd probably enjoy this and have a few 'ah-ha' moments. I found myself skimming, as there was a lot of information that wasn't anything new to me. I was hoping for more hands on activities to help me find time and how to improve the processes I have.
There is a lot in here about how women are different in their perceptions of themselves and time, but I found it a little basic and at times obvious.
And 'delegate, even if you have to pay for it' is not a time management tip. If I could pay for things to be done around my house, I wouldn't need a book on time management.
having said that, it's not a bad book, just not as thorough and indepth as I was searching for.

Gender-based differences in thinking and behavior exist, including how mammals and human beings react to stress. Understanding a woman's perspective is essential for building agility and resilience in our increasing complex world.

John and Barbara draw on their extensive executive coaching backgrounds to offer insights and strategies for managing stress and anger and other issues that affect women in the working world, as well as dealing with work / life balance. They also bring nuanced perspective to the issue of the many expectations women create for ourselves (our stories) as well as what we experience within our families, friends and networks, based on our daily choices.

Each segment offers a "Putting it into Practice" set of strategies to help you choose from options in making a change in your life. Developing a vision and clarity for your next steps, including "Mastering the Skill of Focusing" is just one of their many gems.

I recommend this useful book to any woman looking to better "seize the day" to create peacefulness, clarity, healthy energy and more joy in her life. ~ D

5.0 out of 5 stars Great insights on how to better manage our time! December 28, 2012
This is a well written little book that is easy to read, concise and straight to the point. It provides great insights on how to step beyond the traps that we all tend to fall into when we are trying to get it all done and there is never enough time. I like that this author does not linger endlessly on tropics. But instead provides a lot of information and different perspectives to help create awareness on how we are spending our time and how we can better manage it to make a difference in our lives. A great book, well worth reading!
