5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a book about sex addiction for the codependent!!!
I have read many books on sexual addiction since my spouse and I finally realized what the problem in our marriage was. All the books, until this one, focused on the sex addict and what he/she is going through. It was really good to understand the dynamics of sex addiction, but I needed more. This book has really hit home for me. It helps me to understand why I have...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in Indiana.
I felt that the book promotes the idea that the partner of the sex addict must have some personal problems or abuse from their past that enables them to be with an sex addict.

I have no deep dark secrets from my past that attracted me to this person. Therefore alot of the information I could not relate to.

The book was good in the fact that it gave you stories...

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a book about sex addiction for the codependent!!!, October 30, 1999

This review is from: Women Who Love Sex Addicts (Paperback)
I have read many books on sexual addiction since my spouse and I finally realized what the problem in our marriage was. All the books, until this one, focused on the sex addict and what he/she is going through. It was really good to understand the dynamics of sex addiction, but I needed more. This book has really hit home for me. It helps me to understand why I have acted "crazy" throughout his addiction. It is very comforting for me to know that I am not alone. I go to COSA meetings, Codependents of the Sex Addicts, and am seeing a counselor. This book is taking my recovery another step. I feel like it is helping me to heal!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid information, puts focus on healing, January 26, 2000

This review is from: Women Who Love Sex Addicts (Paperback)
This book has great information about sexual addiction, which so many people have an issue with but not many people know about. It contains a lot of details about signs of an addict (pornography use, acting out) and even more about co-dependents (most likely the partner of an addict). This book gave me a concrete plan that can be used when sex addiction occurs to someone you know and love. This book, coupled with Laurie Hall's book, was invaluable to help me understand the socially acceptable but devestating effects of sex and pornography addicion.

4.0 out of 5 stars How women act to enable their sexually addicted spouses., March 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Women Who Love Sex Addicts (Paperback)
This book opens the topic of a woman's role in the sexual addiction of her partner. Even though it is written for women, it's applicable to anyone involved with a sex addict(man or woman). This book examines relationships founded on sexual addiction or discovered later. The authors advocate that a relationship can heal even if one partner is aware of the problem. Ideally, this book advocates a joint recovery, uncovery, and discovery of the problems that result in a relationship with a sex addict. I read it from my perspective as a man and found that it gives both the addict and the enabler insight into each other's perceptions and responsibility for relationship problems. Overall, a must read for a sex addict and their partner.

I felt that the book promotes the idea that the partner of the sex addict must have some personal problems or abuse from their past that enables them to be with an sex addict.

I have no deep dark secrets from my past that attracted me to this person. Therefore alot of the information I could not relate to.

The book was good in the fact that it gave you stories relating to sexual addiction and the signs to look for.

It was also right on, when discussing what the family member goes through, control, denial and so forth.

As I am not a religious person, I have difficutly in accepting how a 12 step program could help me personally.

What I have done since reading this book is to locate at Co-SA group which I hope can help me to discover the answers to my questions, in regards to whether to stay with my spouse or not. I realize that this is a disease, but I also know that I matter and I can only control what happens to me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mislead in California, March 26, 2000

This review is from: Women Who Love Sex Addicts (Paperback)
I read this book with hopes in understanding my feelings better. I kept waiting for it to apply to me. I was not sexualy abused as a child or an adult. I did have a troubled child hood but I felt the only people this applied to were victims of sexual abuse. I feel this book would be of great help to some but I also feel it is mis-marketed.
