The articles and essays that appear in this book were chosen because they provided information that we believed to be helpful to new and experienced writers.

- Angel Brown is a freelance writer/editor living in New York with her 8-year-old daughter, Shannon. As a reporter in Montpelier, Vermont, Angel wrote human interest articles, personality profiles, and news stories ranging from whimsical to political. After a lengthy hiatus from writing, Angel's freelance career is now back on track and she will be focusing her writing on parenting issues, how-to and inspirational articles, and business publications.

- Sheri' L. McConnell, MAOM is a writer, publisher, and marketing consultant. Sheri' is the founder of the National Association of Women Writers and the owner of The McConnell Group. Sheri' has a Masters of Arts in Organizational Management and Bachelors of Social Work. Her professional experiences range from counseling adults & children in the MHMR (Mental Health Mental Retardation) field to planning software enhancements/writing test cases for a large telecommunications company. Sheri' has written many articles and papers based on her experiences. Sheri' resides in Arlington, Texas with her husband, Seth and their three children.

"Women on Writing" is not fat. Nor is is complete. This is not a "you'll-find-everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know-about" kind of book.

Instead, writers and those interested in becoming one will find a delightful assortment of articles that share experience (check out "Late Night Thoughts on Editing and Writing" by Elisabeth Laden) to bright and brief gems of grammar instruction (see "What Words Do I Capitalize in a Title?" by Tina Blue.)

Some readers will feel that they are forced to put up with some promotion from the sponsoring National Association of Women Writers (NAWW); if you should be one of those, just skip the first few pages of the book. For those who hesitate to do that because you may miss a scrap of information that might be useful, I'd suggest reading these pages for that very thing. You'll find websites for writers with experience; one of them might be willing to contribute a quote for the back of your book. You'll find the names of other books that--I know from personal experience--will be useful to your writing career; see Mary Jo Wehniainen's comments on page 5. She's the author of "The Virtual Success Coach."

In other words, a sharp-eyed reader will find find something to use, something to remember, on virtually every page of "Women on Writing."

This is not a slick book full of promises. Reading this little gem is like sitting with a talented author who cares about you and wants to give you the inside scoop.

Should you join a writers group? How can you kick it up a notch and go from a wanna be writer to a WRITER? What can you expect from your writing and what should it expect from you?

These are just some of the themes you'll find. A great gift to inspire a beginning writer.
