5.0 out of 5 stars Learn to Laugh at Yourself!
This movie made me smile, or rather I should say I broke out in laughter many times! If you see the humor of the situations of "Sex in the City" or laugh at "Malcomb in the Middle" this movie is for you! The short scene in the strip club was probably the only scene to earn the R rating. Otherwise adult humor, some language.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some redeeming value.
The three men in the movie run the gamut from the guy who really loves his wife and doesn't want to lose her, to the divorced guy who's out to **** anything with a skirt that will come off, including the other guys' wives.

The three men in the movie run the gamut from the guy who really loves his wife and doesn't want to lose her, to the divorced guy who's out to **** anything with a skirt that will come off, including the other guys' wives.

** spoilers **

As other reviewers said, the movie earned its R rating in one 35-second scene. Even that was a little unbelievable, because the guys walked in to the strip club and the wife, a few seconds behind, spotted them both in the midst of very close and personal lapdances. Usually, the point of strip clubs is for the girls to keep the guys there spending money, and the guys are there to enjoy the view, so they're not going to be so quick. I digress. However, the wife's shock and outrage are quite believable; disillunsionment, a hemorrhage of intimacy like that can be quite a blow. Imagine stumbling across your wife passionately kissing another man.

I will say that one of the best scenes in the movie is when the divorcee neighbor is drunk, and she tries to tell the two wives how great being divorced is, "how freeing." Then she gets a wistful look on her face and says, "Fear is a terrible age for being single. You look at the stranger lying in the bed next to you, and you hope he's not a psychopath, and if he is, that he'll finish you quickly. You're forty, fifty years old, and you realize that whatever good you might have salvaged from your marriage is buried under too much hurt."

Bottom line on the movie, if you were a fan of Paul Reiser's Couplehood and other similar works, or are into movies that are about relationships deeper than Hugh Grant/Sandra Bullock, then you might enjoy this movie. There's some twists in it, and it's an ensemble cast that do a good job of explaining their entwining lives, turning over the concepts of love, marriage, fidelity, and interactions between men and women in long-standing relationships. There are a couple of laugh-out-loud spots, and there's a couple of spots where you nod in agreement... and the reason this got three rather than four stars: a couple of places that just didn't feel true, as if the writer couldn't bring himself to write the very painful parts.

I really enjoyed this movie! it was amusing as well as thought provoking. I could recognize the characters played out in this film as folks I meet everyday! For those who are involved in long term relationships this film although quite comical can deliver some AHA! insights into male and female interaction and relationship priorities!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Forget the tease, this is a talking head movie, July 12, 2010

The photo on the cover is just a tease. No such legs appear anywhere in the film. This is basically a talking heads film with three couples coming to grips with divorce and infidelity. Of course in the end everyone forgives and forgets. Only in the movies. You can safely pass on this one.

Great movie with an all-star cast!

After his wife has an emotional crisis, two husbands go in search of "entertainment" at a local strip club. When one of their wives follows them, hysteria ensues. The men try to find a way to gain their wives forgiveness while the women ponder what made them go in the first place.

Not a funny movie but a good view for anyone who wants an inside look into WHY men and women think the way they do.

This is one of those Romantic Comedies which pits the two genders against each other. It delves into the ways in which women & men think and how they can interpret the exact same circumstances in very different ways. All along, they go about psycho-analyzing each other.

In this film, the "crisis situation" is that two married men are caught by their wives going to a strip club to "let off some steam." While such an incident is pretty banal in my life, it causes the two wives to go through an emotional Armageddon.

The remainder of the movie (basically a real-time film) sees the two husbands & two wives try and justify their position / actions to their spouses. A fairly trivial matter escalates into a sort of marital nuclear war.

If you like Romantic comedies, this film is certain to be appealing. While it's a bit dry in some spots, it does include some funny moments. Paul Reiser is always fun to watch, and it's good to see him champion the male-point-of-view in this farce.

3.0 out of 5 stars Make your own opinion! ;), March 12, 2003

Now that I'm in charge of ordering videos for a public library, I can say, it's not everything I thought it would be. It's work! So here I am getting a complaint from a patron that the video was too offensive to circulate in our video collection.
According to a patron there was a scene at the beginning of the movie in a strip bar.

OK, so here I am not only in charge of ordering videos, my boss now asks me to take the video home and to review it. OK this movie was not bad at all. I just dread in the future taking home sleepers (if you know what I mean)

The movie:
The initial scene sets the stage of the movie which is basically a husband that got depressed when his wife ran off after an argument. Basically we now have an upset husband who's friend asks him to go out and forget about the argument to a strip bar. It just happens his wife follows him there. Thus, we have a very simple story, jealous wife, and conversations that reside over this argument. If you're looking for action, adventure, mystery or anything else, you might want to look somewhere else. This might have turned me off at the inset of the movie when I found out where it was leading. So my main concern, for my life at the job, was to review the offensive content. A few minutes into the movie was about as far as it went. The strip club which included a lap dance with each husband was the content of the complaint. For those of you who do not know what a lap dance is, it is a dance where the clothes of the dancer usually comes off. For those of you who know the Lambada, it's one step more or should I say it's 1 piece of article less. I don't want to get too explicit here but there is nothing to get explicit about. That was the extent of it. Talking from a guy who has seen other movies with 10 times more vulgarity or more explicit sexual content, I'd have to say that it was nothing more than a quick view. I believe that patron played off the anger of the wife who was kind of unbelievable in my eyes. My personal opinion is that she was a little too concerned about a girl pressed against her husband. This is what though, make your own opinion on a scene that end there.

The rest of the movie and my attitude toward the two wives did get better as the movie persued. Not that I'd be on the womens side.... HECK NO :) But they weren't so unbelievable in their actions after a typical bad fight.

Let me conclude that I could believe that this movie is more geared towards a women's side of the argument than a guys side. So if you are looking for a lot of fun, intelligent humor, or driving force to keep the movie running, I'd say look away. If you have been in that situation a number of times and can get amused by such a scenario, take out the popcorn, pop in the video and keep on smiling at each little comment from both parties. I rated this with 3 stars down the middle of my scale because it is really geared for a certain audience and an average audience I believe should neither hate it or love it.

Mike

P.S. Spelling... not my forte... Grammar.. sorry nope... Information and smiles is all I'd hope to give you with this review....I'd hope :)

This movie was dubbed in some unknown foreign language - NOT noted in the description. Ended up having to rent the movie at the local video store to see it. Then I pitched the worthless copy this vendor sent because return postage and a "restocking fee" would be more than the cost of the CD.
