THE WOMEN'S HEALTH NETWORK OF MEXICO CITY
On May 28, 1996, International Women's Health Day, the Women's Health Network of Mexico City carried out a public hearing in the meeting hall of the old School of Medicine of the Mexican National Autonomous University. A symbolic jury of five distinguished academic and intellectual figures (a writer, a philosopher, a human rights specialist, a doctor, and a legal expert) and an audience of government functionaries, political party representatives, health authorities, women from various non-governmental organizations, and the general public, heard eighteen denouncements of medical negligence and reproductive rights violations. This is the first time that public denouncements of this nature have been presented in Mexico.
