Inspirational Material, April 1, 2000
This review is from: 100 Women's Stage Monologues from the 1980's (Monologue Audition Series) (Paperback)
Everytime I go through this book, It seems like I always find a new monologue that strikes my interest! There is a huge variety of comedic and dramatic monologues, as well as age differences. The only problem that I have had is that it is difficult to find the entire plays where these monologues originate from, but I believe there is enough information given to solidly perform one of these monologues. Some of my favorite monologues in this book are written by: William Mastrosimone, Timberlake Wertenbaker, Nagle Jackson, Stephen Metcalfe, Israel Horovitz, and Diana Amsterdam.

Good selection, January 5, 2003
This review is from: 100 Women's Stage Monologues from the 1980's (Monologue Audition Series) (Paperback)
As a drama teacher, I find myself having to struggle constantly to find strong dramatic work for my female actors. This small collection contains a most diverse array of fine options. Again, one word of caution, again understand my context- a high school theatre teacher, one will want to read all of the selections before making this availble to all students. Again, one doesn't (and shouldn't) have to censor, just be aware. There is good stuff out there for women, it just takes some effort in the finding. This is a good starting out point.
