5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, timely book--fully inspirational for women, September 12, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Women's Ventures, Women's Visions: 29 Inspiring Stories from Women Who Started Their Own Business (Paperback)
This is an EXCELLENT, timely, and fully inspirational book for women entrepeneurs and wannabe ones. There just isn't that much out there that tells great stories of women business leaders/small businesswomen with inspiring visions--and so we generally don't even get to learn these stories. This book shares 29 of those rare stories, and better yet, does them in the women's own words. It's HIGHLY inspirational, and a real treasure trove of women's wisdom for starting and running your own business. As a reader, you feel privileged to sit and "listen to" these 29 women tell their precious stories, and you come away feeling like you know who they are, and that you've been inspired to do more yourself. Great job, throughout: even lovely photos here and there to illustrate who the "speakers" are--the tellers of these tales. A great book, and one I'm very glad I stumbled across. It should make the short list of anyone's guide to what makes entrepeneurial women tick. Excellent.

3.0 out of 5 stars 1997 - How Much Has Changed!, October 16, 2007
This review is from: Women's Ventures, Women's Visions: 29 Inspiring Stories from Women Who Started Their Own Business (Paperback)
I picked up this book in a $2 bargain box in Texas. I dare say it wasn't a cheapie because of the content (I really enjoyed it) but more because it was released in 1997. Due to its age - two things stood out to me so clearly. Firstly, there was no mention of the internet. Not one, and not a website or email address on the contributors contact page - now what a great lesson in how much has changed in just ten years. Secondly, so many of the women profiled spoke of the glass ceilings they had hit due to being women. It made me feel very encouraged to compare this with my own talks with fabulous women in business today where the incidents of "boys clubs" are far less.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit dated, October 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Women's Ventures, Women's Visions: 29 Inspiring Stories from Women Who Started Their Own Business (Paperback)
I bought this to inspire my darling wife, who has her own business and doesn't realise how great she is. I was slightly disappointed to discover just how old it is, and so the stories are somewhat less relevant today. But she did enjoy most of it and it wasn't expensive. I'd love to find an updated version.
