I gave this book to my daughter when she was 10 years old before she went off to camp because I thought she should have some information about her body before she was exposed to the kind of misinformation I picked up in camp. She loved it and when I asked her if she had any questions she said all the questions she had were asked and answered by the author at the end of the book.

In this day and age when the mixed messages are inundating our little girls, what a pleasure to experience a perspective that wholeheartedly gives one, healthy, wholesome message. A girl can feel happy about the changes she is experiencing because of the power of healthy femininity that it heralds. These private events link her with women the world over and throughout time and history. Dr. Grossman's perspective sets girls up for success and a positive attitude toward their bodies and its meaning for their personal identities and the cycles of life. May we all be blessed to have ourselves and our daughters adopt this perspective, one which links them to such role models as Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah.

My daughter and i read this together 6 months ago. She's in the 4th grade. We read a little together each night and then I would ask what other questions she had and share how I felt when I was her age. I wish I had this book as a girl instead of hearing information that just scared and confused me. Now, we plan to read it again as some issues have become relevant.
