4.0 out of 5 stars Tender listening March 4, 2000
Format:Audio CD
Bringing it back to basics: lovely harmonies, acoustic guitars, real brass instruments, and an almost folky nature. The delicious original version of "Chocolates" is here along with pop gems like "Girls Bike". This album is actually quite complex, some tracks are rather somber and contemplative (Fossil), others book-smart and fez-wearin' (Kalypso). Standouts (for me) where the brothers' vocal harmony shines through are "Byzantium", and the cover of "Loverly" (from 'my fair lady'). The brass and overall tone of "Salut au monde" makes me want to dash for the skip button, but then there are redeeming pop tunes (Tell me where you are) that lift you back up. Mmm'kay?

5.0 out of 5 stars Tut-tut, rest your gentle soul... November 26, 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
The Navins will smooth your hair and sing you to slumber. You'll dream of rainbows and ponies who let you brush their long, flowing hair.
If God was smoking a Dunhill in a lounge in midtown, He'd insist on the Aluminum Boys being on the turntable.

Under your silk ascot is a heart that beats softly. A heart that remembers lost loves and rejected advances. John and Frank Navin sing with that heart. Grab this Cd and care less about 1,000 years of Communism. You'll marvel at their harmony. You'll giggle with delight at their wit. And you will never forget "The Aluminum Group."

1.0 out of 5 stars please let them know November 4, 2001
Format:Audio CD
there is a difference between artists who KNOW they
belong in a loungy lounge, and those who haven't
figured it out yet... conn, o'rourke - they know
they're playing lounge music and it's okay because
everyone's in on the joke - themselves included. the
aluminum group is not aware that they belong in
a swanky lounge. they think they're great! patting
each other on the back after the show. swanky swank.
they pop their bass strings. case closed.
