What can you say about Boyce and Hart other than the men could write a pop song. Sure, just like Mark Lindsay with the Raiders, they were copping Beatle licks and ideas, but who the hell wasn't? And before anyone compares them to the pop 'icons' of today, watch them on Bewitched AND I Dream of Jeannie. They definitely knew who they were and could give a knowing wink to the audience. Filled with great hooks, great singing, and a couple of 'why wasn't this song on the top of the charts instead of...' moments. Ignore the cheesy Vegas style photo and get inside the grooves, man ; - )

Really, the only flaw in an otherwise superlative compilation from the fine people at Rev-Ola is "Six+Six" (a rare single "B" side not found on any original LP) being mastered from a record, though the remasterer did a worthy effort; still, a substitute of another song [from tape]--"I'll Blow You A Kiss In The Wind" would be a prime candidate-- would make this set 5 stars, overall. Great liner notes (by Andrew Sandoval) and photos! The remastered sound (save for "Six+Six") blows other B&H collections out of orbit. Why can't ALL B&H CDs sound this phantasmagorphic?! A MUST for Monkees fans, too.
