Nothing really new about this calendar. It is using old covers, just like all of the other Chronical Books stuff. No Post Crisis stuff sadly, but for the true WW fan like myself, it is a have to have. I've even heard that Chronical Books is planning a 2002 calendar, so maybe if we buy enough of these, the WW weries of stuff will continue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tons of fun!, December 3, 2000

The monthly pictures are basically reprints of Wonder Woman comics that were produced in the 70's and 80's. Chronicle Books paid DC Comics for the rights to reprint the comic covers in a monthly calendar.

The calendar is nice and simple, which is perfect. The top portion is the image of Wonder Woman and the bottom portion has the month with a white background. The names of the month alternate between bold red and blue (ex: January - red, February - blue, etc.). The days are very simple - not seperated by typical squares, but rather by one long line for each week and a small 1/8 divider between each day. This provides the freedom of writing notes any where without feeling limited to a small square. Also on the bottom of each page is a small Wonder Woman graphic, sometimes a panel from the comic book, sometimes a clip art.

This is a wonderful calendar - fun to look at. It does not appear too juvenile (overwrought with comic images), but as a professional-looking calendar suitable for workplace environments. My hat goes off to Chronicle Books for putting Wonder Woman to different uses such as calendars and notecards (check them out, too!) - I look forward to seeing what they come up with next!

What a fun calendar! Bright colors, beautiful pictures, a real conversation piece if you hang it up at home. For any WW fan, this is a must. The pictures show her as she looked in the 50's, 60's, 70's, etc., all but her present "look." A great nostalgia item.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spiffy Calendar, so-so Collectible, December 16, 2000
This review is from: Wonder Woman Wall 2001 (Hardcover)
Wonderfans (as a subset of those "infamous" comic book devotees) are likely to snap this calendar up, regardless of it's merits. I did. And I can't say that I'm the least bit disappointed with it, because my expectations were few. However, other Wonder Woman followers would do well to note a few peculiarities/particulars about this calendar.

First, the image repros look to be done from actual comic book covers, not DC's original panels. (You can even spot a portion of a bar code in one cover repro.) This may seem a small point, but in many of these images you can see color irregularities and annoying dot matrixes...and both are things that could have easily been "corrected" by Chronicle with proper screening and photo-shopping. There are a couple of errors in the image credits (ex: December's Ross Andru cover credited to HG Peter), and none of the WW covers are accompanied by the issue number on which it appeared.

Here is a partial list of the original WW (Volume 1) issues from which cover sections were "sampled" for this calendar: January is #210, Feb #48, May #239, June #302, July #269, August #268, October #62, and December is #93. As one of the other reviewers noted, this calendar doesn't include any images from the post- '86 Wonder Woman book (better known among fans as the post-Crisis years), so fans of the latter-day book may be disappointed. If Chronicle renews its' licensing arrangement with DC Comics, I hope they opt to produce a nice desktop calendar. Though the images wouldn't be as large (this wall calender is fairly big) there'd be more room to include other portrayals of WW, be it "modern" renderings or even old comic panels. As is, this edition is a fine way to enjoy Wonder Woman all year round, but not much of a keepsake compared to the original comics these illustrations came from.
