RUN from this game. It makes Carnival Games look GENIUS in comparison. As the other reviewer said, you only get 1 free game in each of the 5 sections, so you must play so many times & do well enough in that game alone to earn enough tickets to play the other about 5 games in that section. All the other games cost 10-50 tickets each to play once & they only give you 10-100 tickets each, some only 20 even if you get the top score & play perfectly. Did I mention that in order to get to the next section you must have bought the prizes with said tickets? It's bad enough it looks cheap, dull & the auctioneer in each section have horrible, inane, non-helpful things to say, but also all the games are the same, but in different themes. I got to section two before I was tempted to throw my wii remote. Both had a non-moving objects shooting gallery, both had a whack a mole game, etc. A game that forces you to play games repeatedly ad nasueum to get to anther section. why don't they force you to watch a good movie as well & take any possible fun out of that too? Oh, the ride if you earn enough tickets? Is just another "game" such as section 1 is you shot out of a cannon & have to hit the botton displayed at the right time as you go through obstacles. Like a slow rhythm game. OOhhhhhh. You know a game is bad if on the commericial the actors have to dress up & do lame things to seem like they are having fun instead of just showing gameplay. Unless the gameplay SUCKS.
There are several review sites like IGN com which even shows you video of several minutes of gameplay. I rented this & I still want my $3 back.

They lead you to beleive that this game is a combination of boardwalk games (wack a mole..toss a ball) and "rides" you can go on. There are five "themes" to the park. you play games (at each theme..one is always free) you do well enough and you are awarded tickets to play at other games. the goal is to "Purchase" all the toys at the themes vender unlocking the "Ride" which turns into yet another competition game. Like I said, its ok. but not great.

I got this game for Christmas from my wife, because I loved Carnival Games, and love amusment parks in general. While not a horrible game, it does get borring quite fast. Like other reviews say, alot of the games in each section are the same game with different themes...and some games are almost impossible to complete (and I am not just saying that because I am bad at video games, I had friends who play video games constently that couldnt complete some of these games). There are alot of things to unlock, and different outfits you can dress your character in, but that all gets old real fast. They have almost the same concept in Carnival Games, but for some reason that just seems alot more fun to do. With so many of these type of games out there, you can easily pass this one up.

Okay, so when I purchased this game it was like twenty dollars. We had just gotten our Wii and were on a game buying spree. In comparison to the cost of other games, I though this was pretty cheap. So, I bought it. Little did I know how hard this game was going to be. Some of the games are fairly simple, but most of them are nearly impossible! You have to play well and keep playing to earn tickets so you can buy your way into the different stages at which point you must start over and regain more tickets. Suffice it to say, I may have spent little more than an hour playing this game. It's just too hard. now, the party play is a little better than story mode, but there are better party play games out there. Take my advice, this isn't a great game and it's not worth the buy.

We rented this game to see if it was something we'd like to buy and boy am I glad it only cost me $5 at Blockbuster. The game play in this stinker is stupid, repetitive, and way too hard.
We started with all four of us playing (Kids age 8 & 4) and ended up with just me trying to score high enough on the games to get enough tickets to buy enough prizes to move on. This game takes literally hours to move onto the next section and when you do - guess what - you get the same crap that you had in the last area but repackaged as "different" games. How you can say that the games are different when they play the same, the goal is the same, and the motions are the same is beyond me - my elbow hurt like crazy the next day. I also didn't like was the last area we were able to unlock - some kind of strange Halloween/Haunted House themed area that was downright creepy. We finally had to shut it off because the games and characters were scaring my 4 year old. My 8 yr old, who has played alot of different video games including some of the shoot-em-up style, was also kind of creeped out by it. Ok, lets sum up: you have a game that not only does the game play suck, but also scares the age group you are trying desperately to appeal to so that Mom & Dad will spend money?!?! Genius marketing... Not easy to play. Not family friendly. Not fun.

"WonderWorld Amusement Park" is the single most disappointing game that I have played on my Wii so far, and I didn't have high expectations to begin with. I have had fun with Carnival Games before, and was just looking for something silly and fun I could play with my wife when we weren't in the mood for something more involving.
Unfortunately, although it is listed as "1-4 players", that isn't quite true. Only the single-player "Story Mode" gives you access to the entire thirty games available. The Co-op stage only lets you play five games, about two of which are worth playing more than once. There is a simple shooting gallery (nothing moving though), a frog-fishing game, whack-a-mole, an incredibly dull game where you move a hoop along a cord and one more that was so boring I can't even remember it. As the single-player, you can spend time unlocking the rest of the games, which are mainly variations on the original five games. For instance "Whack-a-Ghost" instead of "Whack-a-Mole," but odds are you aren't going to want to waste the time. Better to spend you time and money on something more entertaining.

Don't visit this Amusement Park!,

This game sucks pure and simple. I bought it because of the package - the graphics and the statements. We brought it home, loaded it into the Wii and watched.
That's all you do in the first part of the park - watch the games as you get defeated. The sad thing is that you need to win tickets in order to open up other parts of the park. And in my situation, we tried and tried but failed to win those tickets on these God-awful games. My Grandkids were so frustrated that they were ready to go play outside! I even tried my hand at the games and they were all terrible! Needless to say we couldn't get past the first section. I did look in the internet for cheat codes to get into each section, but I couldn't find any. So this videogame sits on the back of the shelf collecting dust. And that's where it will stay. My family would rather play CARNIVAL or THRILLVILLE. Two other amusement park games for the family. And in the case of Thrillville - one of the best! So for buyers who might think of purchasing WONDERWORLD I have a few words of advice: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!

The only game that's ever made my kids cry...,
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wonder World Amusement Park (Video Game)
First off we didn't buy this game from Amazon, but being we bought it from Target (who Amazon sells for) and Amazon being the review capital of the world I figured this was as good of a place to do my ranting... Couple months ago my wife calls me while shopping at Target and says "They're having a sale on Wii game two packs and one has My sims kingdom and some carnival game" A bit skeptical I quickly look up reviews on trusty Amazon, My sims kingdom got decent marks and the Carnival games had great reviews so I told her for $25 grab it! Well when I got home the first thing I realized was it wasn't Carnival game at all but this bag of heap instead...
So I go to check reviews here on it and it was all downhill after that as the kids already broke open Sims and were playing it (hence we could not return the lot back to Target). Let me tell you the reviews are right on the money for this game, but let me add my 2 cents in, in the hopes I might feel a wee bit better, sigh... Now it wasn't a total waist in that the kids do like the Sims game, but bottom line this game is just down right horrible and was so frustrating for our kids, all it did was make them pout and cry out of frustration. Even I got frustrated and threw it back in the box. Make no mistake it will be sold off or used in one of those exchange things some stores do. It's gone back in our Wii from time to time only to be met with the same disappointing results and it will never go back in our Wii again! If anyone from the development or product staff ever reads this (and I hope they do), you idiots really should be ashamed of yourselves as you've made more tears with this game than smiles... More about the game, it advertises some 30+ game separated into like 5 amusement parks, 4 of which you have to unlock by playing the games and earning tickets if you do well enough. Well that's one problem in that most of the games are so ridiculously hard, poorly done, or just so frustrating that you cannot accomplish it or get a high enough score to earn tickets, but instead end up loosing your tickets rather than gaining new ones. Also lets set something straight about the 30 games right now, I only saw / unlocked not even half of them and you know that game where you have a hammer and there are nine slots and you try to bang the creatures when they pop up? Well I saw 3 different versions of this game. So their "30+" games are probably more like 10 but with different variations. Not only that, just wrap your mind around this for a sec... Have you ever played that game where there's a curvy metal bar and you have a metal loop which goes around it and the goal is to slide the loop around the bar without touching it? Well some idiot on their staff actually thought this would be a good game for the Wii. Given the innate difficulty of this type of game to begin with coupled with a cumbersome Wii controller which you use to point and slide the loop along, one can get a sense of how ridiculous this game is. It's not fun for anyone and literally impossible for kids let alone adults. For most of the other games though the bar is set so high that again you cannot achieve your goal and get any tickets to make any forward progress. Obviously the developers have no kids of their own and couldn't even wrap their little minds around what would be good for kids. There was no difficulty setting for this game so again if you cannot get to a certain score on an event your only choice is to try again which just builds the frustration or stick to another event you can do. Well that narrows your game play to just a couple event which get rather boring quickly. I would give this game 0 / 5 if Amazon would let me. Final thoughts... This would be an excellent game to give to prison inmates to further punish them for their crimes.

I rented this thinking it would be as good as the Carnival Games (WonderWorld is from the same publisher and the case had similar artwork). The graphics were disappointing, the cover makes it look like its fun.
I played this game with my younger sister who is about 12 and even she thought it got boring and the gameplay was a little confusing. We played this game for about 15 or 20 minutes and decided to watch a movie instead. Usually when we rent a game, we play for hours. The shooting gallery was confusing because on one level we couldn't find the last bottle. The other minigames are a little bland. And there is one minigame where a hoop is on a wire which is a weird game if you think about it (another reviewer mentions it). |
