4.0 out of 5 stars Great new Rush of Fools CD
The title track of this CD is by far my favorite, but there are several others I like almost as well - "Holy One," "Tonight," and "No Name."
Luckily on this CD they didn't stray from the style that made "Undo" from their debut album so popular. Wes (lead singer) has an AMAZING voice. I *love* their sound. The only thing I would see them do differently is to rely a...

The only thing I would see them do differently is to rely a little less on repetition in their lyrics.
(choruses, mainly) This repetitive theme works fine in some songs ("Tonight" for example - it's so moving), but not as much in others. Still, this is a wonderful CD and if you liked their previous one, you will *definitely* want this one as well.
P.S. - If you download this album from the Zune Marketplace, the songs are mislabeled. Just FYI.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rush of Fools [Wonder Of The World], February 9, 2009
This review is from: Wonder Of The World (MP3 Download)
Rush of Fools has made quite an impression with 2 albums in less than 2 years, including an impressive self-titled debut album that made several top 10 lists in 2007 with the stand-out songs "Undo", "We All" and "When Our Hearts Sing". The band was nominated for best new artist of 2007 and "Undo" was nominated for song of the year. That is a pretty hard act to follow and if you liked "Rush of Fools" as much as I liked it, you probably had pretty high expectations for their newest album "Wonder of The World", released September 16, 2008.

For awhile, I only had the title track and had to remind myself I was listening to Rush of Fools when the song came on in a playlist as the sound and style of the song is different from the first album. Now, the second single "Lose It All" is doing very well and although also has a different sound, reminds me why I like this band so much. I downloaded the entire album "Wonder of The World" about 1 month ago and I highly recommend it. The opening song "There Is Nothing" sets the tone nicely for the album with the biblical and uplifting lyrics "There is no wilderness, no desert place, no sickness, There is no sinking ship, no history, no weakness, That You can't save me from". The entire album is full of very worshipful and uplifting lyrics such as the opening line of "Wonder of The World": "Father, How can it be that You are Father to me, Savior, How can it be that You are, Savior for me, Everything I need".

Every song has a similar sentiment of praise and worship to our Savior set to catchy melodies and sung with emotion by Wes Willis who co-wrote every song with fellow band member Kevin Huguley and producer and songwriter Jason Ingram. One song I keep coming back to is "Lose It All", which is one of the highlights of the album and very catchy, upbeat and worshipful. The second half of the album is pretty mellow and contemplative and I enjoy listening to the entire album in order and sharing in the worship experience with the band. I'm looking forward to seeing them in concert the next time they come to my area.

If you like Building 429, Ruth, Sanctus Real and Above The Golden State, then you should really enjoy this solid worship album. I score it 88% out of 100%, solid B+.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but..., January 20, 2009

Nice sophomore collection. Their melodies are nice. Their vocals are nice. Their lyrics are nice. Their musicality is nice. But....

It's just missing something. There was an edge of excitement in their first album. Their was greater musical variance and more dynamic lyrics in their first album. If Rush of Fools hadn't had a first album, this would be a nice first effort. But...

Alright, I'll say it. I expected more! This band's first album was 5-star, cross-the-board excellent. This second effort is nice... Safe... But unexciting and - well - unfulfilling. Like de-caf...

There's a sameness in too much of the material here, except perhaps "Lost It All", which has a little "90's dc talk" kind of feel to it - though again perhaps without the originality or spark. There's far too much repetition in lyrics (like they ran out of things to say). After the first album's inventiveness and edge, this is just a little disappointing.

Perhaps others agree. The "used" market for the CD has already greatly discounted the price. How fast the price of a new release discounts on the used market is a pretty good sign of the popularity and success of the CD.

Sorry guys! I was so looking forward to your second album. Guess I'll have to look forward to your third - but it will be with less excitement and more question marks.

Don't get me wrong! "Rush of Fools" still best describes the band and not the buyers of this CD. It's really nice. But...

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Collection, November 1, 2009

This CD by Rush of Fools is really rather good. It has a very good sound along with great Christian lyrics.

The first time that I heard it, I was a bit disappointed. It does not have quite as much of the 'wow factor' as their first CD, Rush of Fools, which was really terrific. Although this one does not have five star songs, there are no bad ones on it. From a lyrical standpoint, it is top notch. This is a band that has the courage of its convictions and is not afraid to mention God, the name of Jesus, etc.

It is well worth getting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonder of the World - Rush of Fools, July 13, 2009
This review is from: Wonder of the World (Audio CD)
I believe that all of the songs on this album are good, though not as good as Rush of Fool's first album. My personal favorite is Lose It All, but as before stated, all are good and the album was worth the money spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars God-centered and Gospel-focused, July 6, 2009

This review is from: Wonder Of The World (MP3 Download)
Wonder of the World is an excellent follow-up album that brings a strong focus to the person and work of Jesus Christ, and how his followers should respond to him, namely, to "lose it all."

Great songwriting by Wes and Kevin!

Great percussion riffs by Jamie!

I STRONGLY recommend this album, and also if you have opportunity to catch these guys in concert don't miss them.

I became a fan of the Contemporary Christian band Rush of Fools when their first album came out. I heard a song on our local Adult contemporary station and I simply HAD to find out who did the song. Wouldn't you know it was by Rush of Fools. Their Sophomore release tops, by far, the initial album. This CD will find its way to your favorites bin. Buy it! Satisfaction guaranteed! I promise.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great sound, but I've heard deeper lyrics., March 26, 2009

I loved their first album, but this one just didn't meet the same standard. They sound great on this album, but the lyrics just didn't cut it for me. They are generic to me. I love them still, but I think that they have got to work on deepening the message. The next album has promise.
