Product Description

The Wonderland is a revolutionary lens hood filter system, which allows photographers to use filters on their Super-Wide Angle (SWA) and Ultra-Wide Angle (UWA) lenses. The system helps create the right lighting balance when capturing images using your UWA and SWA by giving you the ability to use filters on certain lenses where it was not possible to do so before. The Wonderland core unit doubles as a metal hood which gives added protection to the front lens element and the plastic built-in hood that is on many SWA/UWA lenses. The core unit is what provides the photographer a place to attach filters and a dedicated heavy duty snap-on lens cap to protect your unprotected lenses. The Wonderland System is a perfect fit for panorama, nature, architectural, fashion and event photographers and filmmakers. The Wonderland 145 System will work with all Fotodiox Pro 145mm round filters; including Multi-coated UV filters, Circular Polarizer's and Neutral Density 4, 8, 16, and 32 filters. So whether you just want to protect your expensive SWA/UWA lens (UV Filter), darken the scene for longer exposures (ND4/8/16/32 Filters) or remove reflections and enhance colors (CPL Filter) the Wonderland 145 will allow you to grab more creative control than ever before! The Wonderland 145 System is fully upgradeable to incorporate 6.6" rectangular filters via the WonderPana66 upgrade brackets. Use of a polarizing filter, in the correct direction, will filter out the polarized component of skylight, darkening the sky; the landscape below it, and clouds, will be less affected, giving a photograph with a darker and more dramatic sky, and emphasizing the clouds. The benefits of polarizing filters are largely unaffected by the move to digital photography: while software post-processing can simulate many other types of filter, a photograph does not record the degree of polarization, so the optical effects of controlling polarization at the time of exposure cannot be replicated in software.

I was really excited about this product. I've owned my Nikon 14-24mm lens for about a year now and like its field of view at 14mm. I photograph a lot of running water at a very wide perspective, and the idea of adding a circular polarizer to reduce reflections or a neutral density to get unique effects on water flow is intriguing. For a time I thought about trading the 14-24 for a Nikon 16-35mm since the latter lens takes filters. However, when this product was released, I jumped at the opportunity to check it out.

The system comes with a ring that installs from the bottom of the lens (assuming pedal side up), another ring that installs from the top, the filter and a lens cap. Each piece comes with a reasonably well-padded pouch that is great for packing the system away if a user doesn't want to keep it on the camera. The cap is sturdy and has a pinching mechanism similar to the standard on Nikon-branded lens caps. The design of the system is pretty sound, although it does add some bulk to an already bulky lens. I don't find this to be too much of a problem. The parts are all metal and installation on the lens is quick and easy, although the lens has to be removed from the camera to install the ring that screws everything in place. The zoom and focus rings are not obstructed in anyway. The circular polarizer has "grab points" to enable a user to easily rotate the filter to the desired position for reflection reduction or color enhancement. It is a 145mm filter, so one has to take care and make sure no fingerprints are left behind. From here, the main two things to look at are sharpness and vignetting. I'll discuss both of these below.

After using this for a few months on a consistent basis I'm really happy with the results it produces. I'm not seeing any vignetting around the edges even at 14mm given I do use lens profile correction in Lightroom.

I also tested out Formatt Hitecks option in the field as well. The WonderPana system is hands down better! No contest. It's smaller, easier to pack, and performs much better all around.

In terms of the CPL it works great and screws on very easily. I was so happy with the results I just picked up their ND8 Filter as well.

I don't like to shoot at the ocean with the 14-24mm as sea spray quickly builds up on the front element. This filter system costs much less than a damaged lens element. On top of that, It is Critically sharp. Really no loss in sharpness at all. Well designed and constructed.

I put this on my Nikon f2.8 14mm - 24mm prime lens. It was big and unwieldy, but it is perfect for a super wide-angle lens that is capable of 117 catching a 117 degrees of capture.

This kit fits one of my favourite lenses perfectly - and it's just so clever! No doubt it will make a real difference to some of the landscape shoots - it's just great to be able to get a polarizer onto a lens I thought could never have one fitted. Love it! :)

I have been searching on filter system of Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 . I believe this is the one I have been looking for. It has front cap to avoid dust. A round figure of filter except for ND filter which needs rectangular fllter with rotating filter holder.
System holder itself was made well done. No other brand will follow close to this system.
