Beautiful, unique designs,
By Marmish (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wonderful Baby Quilts to Make (Paperback)
The quilts in this book are beautiful and very unique. There are almost no traditional block quilts. Many are applique or a combination of applique and piecing. I agree with the other reviewer that the directions can be confusing, and some of the techniques are very difficult. However, there is a range of difficulty in the patterns, so some are easier. I have made 3 different quilts to rave reviews. The pinwheel one is my favorite. If you are looking for more sophisticated quilts, versus traditional ones, this may be the book you are looking for.

This book has beautiful baby quilts, however at this point I may never get the first one finished. The instructions are written in narrative and difficult to follow. I find myself constantly reading and re-reading the paragraphs of instructions to find where I am in the process. The cutting instructions are not clear and get lost in all the istructions. She uses templates, you have to make your own pattern for them along with adding the 1/4" on each side. I am used to rotary cutting and have wasted much fabric before getting the sizes correct. They may be more easily followed for a seasoned quilter, but I found it one of the more difficult to follow.
