A wonderful introduction to study of earthworms and ecology,
By A Customer
This review is from: Wonderful Worms (Paperback)
My multiage class of first/second grade students were entranced with the illustrations in this book. The simple format was easy for them to understand and allowed them to compare/contrast earthworms with other animals we have studied. It has led to a deeper study of the ecology and the beginning of a compost pile/wormery in our classroom. Best of all, the GIRLS were the best worm farmers!

Enticing non-fiction for Primary grade readers,
This review is from: Wonderful Worms (Paperback)
Wonderful Worms is a informational and engaging non-fiction text for youngsters, aged 4-7. It has simple and colorful pictures. The text is not complicated and the reader can expand on it in many directions. After seeing this book, I am going to look for more Linda Glaser books.

Great first look at worms,

As an environmental educator, I have used this book to teach young children (3-8 yrs) about worms and composting. It's a perfect introduction to these little animals and their role in the ecosystem. Good illustrations, good story line, and accurate information (minus the fact it says they "eat dirt" but to toddlers, it's close enough). After reading through several collections of books around town (the zoo, school libraries, etc.) I feel this one has a great message and is perfect for small children. I also recommend "Compost by Gosh!" by Michelle Eva Portman.
