Lovely,
By
This review is from: The Wonderful World that God Made (Hardcover)
The Wonderful World that God Made is a lovely book to introduce kids to the creation story. Patterned off "the house that Jack built" makes the reading fun and lively which, combined with the lyrical text and soft illustrations gives the book a quality that appeals to all ages and temperments. A very special book.

This magnificent book is a welcome addition to my library, and it is also further proof of the unlimited range of talents and skills possessed by my friend PJ Lyons. I greatly enjoyed reading this book, and while I know it is meant primarily for a children's audience, I think it should appeal to children of all ages! Wishing you every success PJ, and I am proud and humbled to know you.

Colorful rhyming story creates our wonderful world,
This review is from: The Wonderful World that God Made (Hardcover)
Stories that allow children to use their imaginations are enjoyable and important for their creative growth. One such book is "The Wonderful World that God Made."This story tells how God made the earth in 7 days. It's told in an "accumulating rhyming style," similar to the story, "The House that Jack Built." On each day, a short rhyme tells of something new that God made to add to our earth. On each day, each of the previous day's additions are mentioned. We highly recommend this book -- it's pastel illustrations are colorful and simplistically detailed so children can use their own imaginations while hearing or reading the story. Children of all faiths will enjoy this story.

My 8-year-old twins love this book. It's one of those books that they want read to them 3-4 nights a week. The cadence of the language makes this book a perfect bed-time book. And, they love the illustrations. Try it. Your children will love it and will add it to that stack of books that they read over and over again.

Creation, children and the natural world,
By k. kooyers (Holland, MI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Wonderful World that God Made (Hardcover)
The Wonderful World that God Made by P. J. Lyons is a wonderful creation story with an emphasis on the beauty and goodness of God's natural world. The language is lyrical, rhythmic, and inclusive and shows the glory of a world coming into being. The illustrations are filled with radiant colors portraying children and their pets engaging in and enjoying the beauty of the world, running through the wind with kites, roasting marshmallows on a starry night, playing with fireflies. A comforting, soothing and joyful story to introduce God's love for each of us and the world we live in.

Joyous Words and Pictures,
By sparrow (Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Wonderful World that God Made (Hardcover)
THe Wonderful World God Made is full of joyous energy, both in words and in the movement of the illustrations that celebrate the text. P. J. Lyons has created a catchy rhyme that propells the story of God's creation in the manner of "this is the house that Jack built". The illustration add to the building of both the expanding rhyme and the cumulative growth of creation. The only drawback to reading this book to a room of preschoolers will be the small sized font used in the book design. Most likely, the children will aid the reader by repeating the wonderful words.

This review is from: The Wonderful World that God Made (Hardcover)
This hardbound book for children opens with a page scattered with confetti and swirls and featuring planet Earth. "Here is Earth, that big blue ball, And the heavens above us all, That God made in the beginning." A parade of southwestern colors is seen throughout this rhyming picture book. Lori Esposito has illustrated this book with "sunny days and moonlit nights." She has given the children in this book a Hispanic look and the abundance of animals a human appearance. A dove, sea life, fowl, giraffes, a pink elephant and cats are all included in her collection of illustrations found within the pages of this book.
