5.0 out of 5 stars This is an excellent choice for horse lovers!
The story is very realistic, with Wonder getting hurt, and it actually describes treatment of the injury, which was very educational. Besides that, it is a book that is filled with the excitement of racing and especially the Triple Crown. I would recommend it for anyone who is even slightly interested in horses or racing.

This book is the greatest! Thoroughbred #1-4 (w/ Ashleigh & Wonder) are the best ever! This book demonstrates the love between horse and human. I love this book. It has an interesting plot, is suspensful, and you can't help but LOVE Ashleigh and Wonder. These books are the greatest!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites, October 17, 2001
I just finished reading this again for the first time in maybe a decade and I have to say it's still one of my favorite TB books. I don't know what it is about the really old ones...it's like being on personal holiday while reading them. Anyway, on the second time around, as an older person who notices these things, I did stumble across some mistakes...like the Swayle Stakes instead of Swale, and the fact that the paddock walkway for Churchill Downs isn't grass. Plus, as the book went along it started to go really fast and then I actually started to ask myself why they couldn't have slowed down for Wonder's two-year-old season and then had a separate book for Wonder's Triple Crown. It seemed like a rushed road to the Derby to me.
But, the Brad and Caroline stuff is gold. I always loved that little plot twist. And the descriptions for the Kentucky Derby were right on target. All and all, this is one of my favorite TB books and is deserving of five stars.

This book is just great! If you're smart, you'd take my advise and buy this book! It's one of the best books in the series. Trust me, once you read this book.....you'll want to read all the other books too!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it, February 23, 2000

Wonder is finally racing. This is one filly that will warm your heart and hook you to racing. the ealier books about Wonder,Pride, and Fleet Goddess are the best and the Star ones are good. All the thoroughbred books are good but the ones about the horses i mentioned are the best. I don't like how people critize other books even if they are nbot as good as some of the others. And i son't think that Christina is stuck up she kinda was in some of the earlier books about her but in Wonder's Legacy and beyond seh gets better and more like Melanie (readand find out how) so atop critazing and reread them and see idf your judgments are wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars I think it's one of the best books in the TB series!, January 26, 2000
Together, Ashleigh and Wonder are a perfect team.I loved this book and Wonder's offspring are also some of my favorites. But departing from book #4, Wonder is less and less talked about.(I have 1-25)I wish in one book all the horses:Glory, Wonder's Pride, etc and all the people:Cindy, Mandy, Samantha, etc would be all be together in one big story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading for any young equestrian, don't let it end, February 16, 2005
A Kid's Review
This was the first Thoroughbred book I ever read and still holds a special place in my heart. This is a truly well-written book that I have enjoyed upon many re-readings. Unfortunately, Harper Collins has decided to end the series abruptly after #72. With such a dedicated following and online fan base with members from all over the world, this is a classic and beloved series that has inspired many people and provided horse fans with vicarious thrills and adventure. Ashleigh saved Wonder, now it's up to you to help save Thoroughbred. [...].

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonder's the Best!!!!!!!!!!!, December 1, 2003
By A Customer
I think this a great book. This is to the Julia person who is dumb enough to think that Townsend Prince and Ashleigh's Wonder aren't half siblings. The Prince and Wonder ARE half siblings. The have to have the same SIRE and a different dam, NOT the other way around. You don't know the first thing about horses. YOU ARE HORSE STUPID!!! Now, back to the review. This is the one of the best Thoroughbred books I've ever read. Wonder wins her first race. Ashleigh, Charlie, and Jilly are really happy. Thet decide to race her in the Derby. Then, on an icy day when the track is frozen solid, stupid, birdbrained, idiotic Brad just HAS to ride Wonder. The idiot gallops her WAY too fast and she stumbles, pulling a muscle in her shoulder. Will Wonder heal in time for the Derby? READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!
