A dot on the map of the world,

This is a great album, which is usually too simple of a description, but when my only exposure to Plain White T's before this was a song I genuinely loathe called "Hey There Delilah" it really means something. I find the single on this album (Rhythm of Love) better than that song but at the same time much less likeable than every other song on this entire album. I think these guys are much better when they go in other directions besides the standard made for radio single. Songs like Welcome to Mystery and Map of the World are the purist examples of this. The album starts out with an anthem of sorts and leads up to the title track with many creative songs having not only to do with the typical love material found on these types of records, but also dealing with subjects such as another world you can escape to and wondering about where you fit in to the universe. Yes this is the same band who did that annoying Delilah song but I really consider this to be quite good. If you don't let that song influence your judgment of the band, you will too.

Amazing,

I too love this album. Being an aged Brit, I failed to identify with the High School angst of the earlier CD I had but this has a maturity that appeals to a wider age range. The customary clever lyrics are there - just the track "Killer" alone is worth buying the album for! I'd ask anyone to give it a listen. There is not a bad track contained within it and I guarantee you'll be humming them all after a few listens. Simply wonderful!

If you like the Beatles, you'll find you'll LOVE this album! This holds it's own with the best of the middle-Beatles songs without sounding derivative. Harmonies are tight, and though the album has a lush sound, it does not sound over-produced. Definitely give this one a try. I don't think you'll regret it.

The songs were interesting and tunes good. A lot of albums are lacking good lyrics and melodies, but this one was an exception. The arrangements are good, also.

I'm in my fifties and have to admit to being a bit snobby about music preferring to listen to 60's, 70's and 80's rock. But I really did like the song Rhythm of Love, so I gave the CD a chance. What a good choice I made! This band is awesome, with very interesting music and great melody's and fun. Irrational Anthem is one song I could have done with it, its just boring and a lot of noise. But Boomerang, Rhythem of Love, map of the world, Last Breath, Our Song, Cirque Dans La Rue, Wonder of the younger, and Body Parts, are so worth buying this CD for. They are by far the best tunes on the product,. Great tunes, rhythms, and catchy beats. Nothing is more toe tapping than Rhythm of Lovem, and not for a very long time has a song quite captured the innocence of youth as this song does! Irrational Anthem is just one of those tunes that should have been left of the CD, it really is just a bad song. Make it up as you go, Welcome to Mystery, Killer, Broken record, Airplane, and Wonders of the younger are all good in their own right, but selective in taste. I would rated this work a 4 only because of Anthem and Killer are not very good to me. Otherwise, I enjoy all the others, especially the ones I mentioned first. Just a very good, all around, CD...BUY IT!

In my opinion, the Plain White T's is one of the best bands compared to many other artists. Their music is very pleasing to listen to, and their songs on this album have the ability to make you feel good when you're down. It's unfortunate that they aren't as popular as other artists, and that they are a bit underrated. Nevertheless, I advise everyone to listen to their songs. There's bound to be at least one song on this album that you'll like, unless you absolutely despise this album's genre.

These guys are considered to be the modern day Beatles, in my eyes and ears. They excel in catchy lyrics, fluid harmonies, and solid musical talent. If you like to sing along, this band is for you. |
