Biography

Manchester became the center of the mid-90s Britpop movement thanks to the incredible success of Oasis. Their first two albums, Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, were multi-million sellers that made the swaggering Gallagher brothers the biggest rock stars in the land.

Formed by brothers Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher, they built a formidable live reputation locally after… Read more in Amazon's Oasis Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous song, September 17, 2003
This review is from: Wonderwall (Audio CD)
"Wonderwall" is definitely my favourite Oasis song, let alone one of my favourite songs of all time. The string arrangements are gorgeous and the lyrics are beautifully written. One of the greatest bands ever and one of the greatest songs of all time, IMO!

You can come with two conclusions after hearing this, either these guys can really be so arrogant in putting songs like 'Round Are Way' and 'The Masterplan' as b-sides which are great enough to put them as a-sides and ofcourse including as singles aswell; or that these guys just wanted to make one hell of a single putting together these great classic tunes. Which ever way it was meant, we can not deny Oasis power, especially during the 90's when this hit out at stores. 'Wonderwall' itself was the song that broke them into America's top charts, making the last one in the US and in England continuing with the huge Oasis mania. 'Round Are Way' is such a top song to start a day with. Very happy, very catchy, and very rockish. 'The Masterplan' is what Noel Gallagher (Guitarrist, songwriter)has stated that this is his proudest work. Any band who would of written a song like that would of used it as a single defvinitely. It's simply beautiful and the arranged strings work perfectly for it! For that song alone I would get this single. 'Swamp Song' is the instrumental track which they opened their Morning Glory tour with. Awesome track, imagine it live.

Again, the 5 guys from the UK did it with this single which is among fan's favorites. People who diss Oasis is because they haven't checked them out like they should of had long time ago.

4.0 out of 5 stars Oasis offers single containing B-sides worthy of the A-side, June 11, 2003
This review is from: Wonderwall (Audio CD)
The song wonderwall propelled oasis into superstar status in America. Wonderwall along with Champangne Supernova pushed the sales of "What's the Story(Morning Glory)?" past double platinum and Wonderwall has become a stapple of their catalog.

However, this single is not great because of "Wonderwall". The B-sides of "Masterplan", "Round Are Way" and to a lesser degree "Swamp Song"(Instrumental) are what make this single.

"Round Are Way" is track in the vein of the uptempos on "What's The Story (Morning Glory)but is a bit bland in comparison. "Masterplan", on the other hand, rivals wonderwall itself and is comparible.

Definitely Worthy of anyone two pense at the record store.
