Excellent Introduction To Wood Burning Art,
By Leo E. Arsenault "Leo E Arsenault 'Adirondack... (Upstate - Newport, NY USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Wood Burning With Sue Waters: Rural Scenes (Paperback)
This is an excellent book for the beginning Pyrographic Artist.
Examples include step by step projects with many fine photographs of the process required to finish a barn, wood wall with flower pots, Wall with stones, Squirrel on a fence post, two others as well as patterns for five woodburnings and a Gallery of some of the completed art work. I Highly recommend this book anyone who wants to get started in this Art form.

This book by Sue Waters, must be an early work, the artistry in her woodburning of things like a stone fence are very amature looking. I guess I expected this book to be as well done as Pyrography Workbook also by Sue Walters. I would not recommend Woodburning Rural Scenes, save your money and purchase the Pyrography workbook instead.

This book was published in 1994. Her later books are very good. In this book her example of wood and stone fencing were amateur looking. She was supposed to have an example of how to do glass, She had one window witch didn't look real at all. There are some nice patterns but you have to have them copied smaller or larger.
There is a bench in one scene that was not proportional. It would help a brand new newbie but that's it.I feel this book should be pulled in Lew of it age.

Sue Waters is one of the best pyrograph teachers out there. This is a good book for rural scenes the only negative would be that I would of liked more rural scenes to choose from. Sue goes into details for any novice to be able to follow and gives great advice for anyone to follow.
