16" Wood 3-in-1 Chess, Checkers, & Backgammon Game Set

I specifically was looking to buy an easy to transport, all wood chess set. There were many on Amazon, but few with good reviews. I took a chance on this one that looked nice (plus had checkers/backgammon as well). It had no reviews, but info I could find online about it made it seem nice. In the end, it's exactly what I expected (and a bit more)

The craftsmanship is basic, but solid, it's all wood including the pieces (which I wasn't sure about from the description). The chess pieces are a good size for the board. (The checkers ones are a little small, but given it wasn't the main purpose to me didn't matter). The magnets that hold the board closed are strong and I don't think I'll have to worry about it coming open.

I'll probably sew a couple small fabric bags to hold the pieces instead of the plastic ones that it comes with (just to look nice with the wood).

Overall, for the price I paid ($29.99 plus free shipping), it's an excellent deal, and a definite step up from cheaper plastic sets.

Very dissapointing on Christmas morning for the 9 year old who was in chess club and wanted his own set. Set was opened to find a wooden set of chess pcs with cracked and rough parts. Then we noticed there were 2 sets of the chess parts and no discs for the backgammon. So our multigame set became a rough chess set only.

I purchased this for my 11 year old son, and I was fairly impressed with the construction of the board. The seams were gapped perfectly, and the board has 2 very small sets of magnets inbedded in the board that hold the case shut when not being used. The chess pieces were a little smaller than I like them to be, and they seem very delicate (due to their small size, I'm sure), but I like the fact that it's a 16 inch board. I can always buy some bigger chess pieces later.
