Don't do it.,
This review is from: Wood Cocktail Muddler, Lacquered Wood, Walnut
Been a professional bartender for ten years. Don't use these, unless you enjoy varnish as one of the flavoring agents in your mixed drinks. Go with something like this one from Kegworks,Wooden KegWorks Cocktail Bar Muddler or really any hardwood without varnish.

Shouldn't have purchased a lacquered muddler...,

This muddler works well, but the lacquer is not only unnecessary, but also counterproductive. The lacquer begins to wear off after several uses, which means that it's probably somewhere in the drink. If I were to purchase a muddler again, I would either buy a stainless steel one or, if I got a wood one, it would not be lacquered.

This muddler is fine and standard, but it seems it is a little bit gross if you use it and wash it often. It breaks of into the drink in little chips and flakes as you use it. Also, bacteria can hide in the muddler similar to a cutting board if there are nicks and gouges. I highly recommend checking out the stainless steel mojito muddler instead, especially if it is going to be used in a professional setting. The steel one is washable, heavy duty and is too heavy to lose easily if you are working in a bar setting.

Just like the ones I used to use behind the bar, as a bartender. Works fine.

Great Muddler,

As a newcomer to the cocktail scene I was presently surprised by this product. It has a very nice feel to it and the wood is made out of seems to be of a pretty high quality. There are a few things that I am having issues with: one, I am not really sure which end of the muddler is for muddling, the tapered end or the rounded end, as of now am using the rounded end. The other sort of problem I am having is with the finish on the muddler, its starting to wear out only after about ten times of use. The wear is showing only on the rounded end I use to muddle with. Otherwise, this is a great product that is doing exactly what I thought is would and would recommend it to any one who is in the market for a new muddler. A+

I love this muddler; it's just the right size and feels great to hold. The wood is very high quality and smooth.

muddler,

Our first time with this little tool and really like it. We make mojitos to enjoy on the patio during the summer and this is definitely worth it - no more improvising with whatever I can find in the gadget drawer and wrestling with it.

Great bar tool, prompt arrival... but there was one problem with the packaging. There was a barcode sticker directly on the shaft of the muddler, and when I tried to take it off, the sticker left a nasty adhesive residue. Not wanting to damage the wood or lacquer with acetone, a friend scrubbed the muddler with dish soap and water, but this unexpectedly caused all the lacquer to come off! Now I have an ugly muddler. Not sure what to do about it.

Great muddler. It looks nice and gets the job done; and it's certainly much more effective than the back end of a wooden spoon I was using before I bought this.
