5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted and expected August 2, 2011
Verified Purchase
I bought these despite the one bad review alleging "splinters". I'm glad I did. Free shipping, good price. I couldn't find any wooden stirrers in any stores around me (Target, walmart, etc), so Amazon came through! And as for 'splinters", out of the box of ONE THOUSAND stirrers, I'd say there were 5 or 10 broken ones...maybe a few even had a (gasp) piece of wood hanging off them. I threw those ones away, and lived to tell the tale! I much prefer to stir my coffee with some natural wood than toxic plastic in very hot liquid I'm about to drink. Hygienically speaking, these are absolutely great, are clean, and I'm alive after using 990 of them...about to purchase my second box! Oh, also, I noted one review suggested they were too wide and actually splashed coffee on his/her hands. I've never had that -- maybe I don't stir my coffee vigorously enough - ha! They are certainly not "wide"...they're less than 1/4 inch wide, probably closer to 1/6".

1.0 out of 5 stars Splintery and scrappy. October 16, 2009
Verified Purchase
These are truly bad. Many are short/broken (almost 10% in the box I purchased), and all of them are splintery, with jagged edges and wood fibers just dangling off. I even found what looks like a former piece of string snarled on some rough edges. They don't smell very woody, either -- more like white glue. In fact, I have no idea what wood they are, because there is no indication. There's obviously no quality control -- just billions upon billions of them cut from whatever wood scrap and chucked into shipping containers as they make their way from China, where they are made carelessly.

Cheapest isn't always the best. I'd certainly pay a buck more for fewer slivers and some indication of where the wood came from. As little pieces of wood, perhaps for crafts, they are cheap and interesting, but the idea is unappealing, to say the least, that I might put one of these in my coffee. There's no romance in that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just right! October 5, 2011

I wanted a stirrer that didn't turn into a wet noodle when the coffee or tea is too hot. Those little plastic straws do. I have taller cups so popsicle sticks locally available are too short. These little sticks are just right. They are long enough and they stay firm and straight when stirring.

They would have been too expensive if I had to pay shipping but since I buy other things and can combine for free shipping I only had to pay for the product. I bought two boxes so at the rate of 4 or 5 stirrers a day I'm good for over a year.

The sticks are probably bamboo, none were broken or splintered in the box I have opened. They are clean and mostly straight. I like the idea that they are bio-degradable and a few will probably be used for other things such as with condiments and dips, etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars They work great. February 24, 2011

They work great. We used to use those awful round plastic straws that don't move anything around, just swish thru the coffee. These thin wooden paddles do a great job of mixing the coffee or tea. Previously, I'd find a lot of sugar in the bottom of my cup because the plastic stirrers didn't mix anything up. Now I'm using less sugar, and less plastic. They aren't very elegant, but I can live with their functionality over form.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much superior to plastic November 4, 2009
Verified Purchase
I am very satisfied with these wood stirrers and the timeliness in which my shipment was delivered. The quality is not absolutely perfect, but these are, after all, meant to be used once and discarded. There were no splinters, foreign material, or broken pieces in my shipment. I will definitely order them again.

5.0 out of 5 stars What more can I say. January 31, 2014

They're wood, and they stir, so I guess they have fulfilled their lots in life. We also haven't swallowed any splinters yet, so that's a definite plus.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but quality isn't very consistent January 9, 2014
By Boris

Reasonable price and quick delivery. But quality has been a bit inconsistent over the three or four boxes I've purchased. Some boxes are filled with nicely edged whole stirrers while others seem to be more cheaply manufactured from lower quality stock and include a dozen or so broken or otherwise compromised stirrers. Still, these get the job done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine for me...
Great for the price. Sturdy enough to stir coffee. Should last a long time considering there are 1,000 in the box!

1.0 out of 5 stars Too small
These are very small and very thin. I am sure these will take me through the yr., but I think I will buy the biodegradable ones.

Great deal for the amount of these I need. No splinters so far and easy to keep stocked! Do not like the plastic ones at all. Like HOT coffee!

A little flimsy once they've been in the hot water for a few seconds but they get the job done.

5.0 out of 5 stars great price
I bought these for an AA group as someone said they were having trouble finding stirrers at Costco/Sams. These were great value and biodegradable

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect
These were fairly sturdy, they didn't just get soft and bend as soon as they got wet. Also had smooth edges so no splintered wood.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in Quality
Sticks were really thin and a number of them frayed - it's ok, but I thought the quality would be more like the stirrers in coffee shops.
