Michael Dresdner's WOOD FINISHING FIXES covers everything the beginner needs to know about wood finishing for different projects, from exterior doors and stains to questions about using brushes, avoiding drips and runs with spray finishes, and getting uniform color results from different finishing mediums. All are very basic guides offering solid reference applications.

Dresdner's WOOD FINISHING FIXES is simply the best book I've found for beginners like me. The Q&A format, grouped by general topic, made this book accessible and easy to digest. Dresdner's style is clear, concise and informative, and the book is packed with information. The tip about steaming out dents alone made this a great buy--I would have resorted to putty if I hadn't read the book. My thanks to the author for the lovely finish on my new tabletop.

I'm about to finish Walnut cabinets in my kitchen- A Huge job I really don't want to mess up. I probably checked out 3 dozen books from my library on wood finishing. Many of them read like chemistry texts and are hugely intimidating and I'm not a total novice when it comes to finishing wood. This is one of the books I checked out. I was so impressed with the amount of material, the ease of finding what I wanted, and the ease of understanding what the heck I was suppose to do that I decided I needed to own this book. This was the only book that I decided to buy out of all those library books. It really is a great book, with lots of pictures and just packed with very useful, understandable information. It has all the info of the chemistry type books, but you can understand this one. I really recommend it.
