This is a very good book for the beginner on up to moderately experienced. It is easy to follow and understand. I recomend this as a Christmas present for any wood carving enthusiast.

Trying to better my skills at wood carving, I like books. This approach of 2 books in one is novel to me. I really can turn the top portion to what I am trying to carve, and have the bottom portion (2nd book) explain the way to do the cut, or use the tool. Very interesting. It took some getting used to this format. I think it is a great idea. As for content: pictures and explanations are done well. Some terms may be new to some, but I figured it out. The book is a good value more for us learning than a pro or very experienced carver.
