Quality of the board is very good one of the problems is when the marbles get crowded ie. near the center
it becomes hard to pick up a marble without disturbing other marbles around it. I also gave a peg type board
for a present to some kids and that may be the answer to my problem. I went with the marbles because it is
what I had as a child and I am too traditional to break away from tradition!

We love to play chinese checkers but were disapointed that the grooves where the marbles sit are so close together. The board is much smaller than we thought so it makes it difficult to play if you have big hands, long or fat fingers. This game board is perfect for kids between the ages of 10-13 because their little hands will work just fine but not so much for adults.

The marbles and the wood board are much nicer quality than I expected and made my previous set look really cheap (I purchased this set as a replacement). For such a low price it's quite a nice piece of craft. I really like the fact that this board has grooves along the side to keep the marbles in place so they don't roll off.

My daughter has been really obsessed with games this summer. You name it, she plays it: iPod touch games, board games, dvd games, computer games, etc. I bought several classic games for her, and this is one of her favorites. Chinese checkers was also one of my favorite games growing up, so I shopped around in futility looking for the same game board I had as a child. I finally settled on this one because it has the nice grooves to keep the marbles in place and sorted, unlike almost every other board I looked at. I also knew I wanted wood rather then metal (that can dent, causing marbles to roll) and definitely did not want paperboard based games. For the price, this seemed like a good option.

The game board is darker and more reddish than shown here, like a deep, dark red mahogany. The lacquer is very thick and bubbly in places. I would have preferred the marbles to be solid colors since if several people are playing it is a bit of work to find your marbles since they are all clear with a colored strip inside. They are also not as vibrant as shown on Amazon.

I've played several games with my daughter and did not find the game board to be too small and had no trouble moving my marbles around without upsetting the nearby marbles.

For such a low priced game I'm happy overall.

This is a sturdy toy, with its wooden base, but I wish the marbles were bigger. It's a little hard for an adult to grasp them.

This is a pretty good set of Chinese Checkers. Based on my experience, I think the game works best with children aged 7+. It is a good game to practice counting and pre-planning your moves - a little bit like chess.

The wooden game board is varnished and looks quite durable. The only slightly negative thing is that the holes are quite close together so some of the marbles are easily knocked over when you're picking up a marble to move.

It also might be a good idea to place a rubber band around the box when you close it, because the lid of the box just pops off the top and the marbles can easily fall out.

I think I previoulsy submitted a review for this, but, anyway, this board is very sturdy, looks very nice, and I like the channel for the marbles. It was a little small, but not too small. The marbles aren't that hard to tell what color they are, especially when they are beside each other (plus, replacements would only be $2 anyway.) The finger holes are close (and I have small fingers), but I bought it for kids so it's pretty much perfect for that. The holes seemed to be deep enough to keep the marbles in sufficiently without too much bumping.

I seem to have gotten a different version than displayed, but I'm not going to freak out about it. I'll bring it in to work and play with someone at break time to see if it feels like a good product. Then I'll probably leave it there. It's not something I'd want to have in my home for display.

It doesn't have a nice box to store it in so it'd have to stay in the open, as-is, or in the box. One reviewer said theirs looked nice, but mine's of a deep cherry wood red looking color - can't really see the grain of the wood well, and therefore also loses appeal to me - which I personally always avoid because it's one of the few things in life that I look at and it'll make me feel kind of nauseated. But that was a reason I bought it, to have it out on display, if you will.

Anyway... I'll try to remember to update this review after I tear off the plastic and play it with a co-worker.
