Wooden Coffin Incense Burner - Buddha 12" - Brass Inlays & Storage Compartment

Despite their ghoulish-sounding name, coffin boxes really are very helpful items to own if you burn incense, whether as part of your spiritual practice or not.

Coffin boxes are elongated wooden containers with hinged, perforated lids. The perforations are usually patterned. The sides of the box are decorated with decorative brass inlays. Each end of the box has a hole drilled in it to accept the end of a stick of incense (allowing you to burn two sticks at a time), and the inner floor of the box has two brass discs to burn cone incense.

Most coffin boxes have a "hidden" sliding door built in to one end of the base, which gives access to a small storage compartment for your incense sticks.

This particular coffin box is decorated with Buddhas and is beautifully finished.

A practical and beautiful inexpensive item of which you may want several.

This Incense Burner is very nice. It is made entirely out of wood with intricate carvings all over. The Brass Inlays of Buddha are also very nice. You can burn 2 sticks of incense at a time, or use the brass bowls for cone incense. A very nice item. My only complaint is that the holes for stick incense are rather large, and some of my incense fits loosely inside. Would recommend to anyone looking to burn incense.

If you burn incense sticks, you need an incense coffin. This gadget has a little box you access from the right side. Open the little door, and you can store your sticks. When you burn your incense, you'll find this does a great job of catching the ashes. A hole is drilled into each end of the coffin. If you want, you can burn 2 sticks at a time. You can close the coffin while the incense is burning if you'd like (this applies to cones as well). I like this because it really keeps the ashes from blowing around and landing on furniture. There are two brass disks for placing cone incense. I was surprised at how beautiful this item is. The wood has beautiful figure and grain. As was mentioned in some of the other reviews, the holes on the ends of the coffin are a little large for some incense sticks. The first stick I tried to burn was loose, but I centered it the best I could. After about 30 minutes I looked inside and found that it had shifted, and was actually resting against the side of the coffin, causing it to smolder. The second attempt, I bent over the end of the incense stick, and inserted them both into the hole in the coffin, this seemed to work well!
The next problem I had was with the cheaply made hinges on this thing. The hinge came apart from one side, which I reglued. The other hinge was also loose, and as I was glueing that one, the pin that holds the hinges together in the center fell out. After a little search, I found it, and manged to re-insert it. The quality of the hinges used on this item are very poor, and should be improved. I'm glad I didn't buy this thing, and give it as a gift, I would have been embarrased as to how many times it fell apart. The coffin will accommodate 2 sticks, and 2 cones of incense.

The coffin burner I received is beautiful but looks nothing like the picture. The holes at the top are in a very different pattern and the wood is much darker. Just beware that these are handmade and won't come as a cookie-cutter replica of the picture.

I ordered 2 of these incense holders. The first holder I opened had a small chip on the edge of the lid. The second holder had both of it's sides apart from the rest of the coffin. Instead of returning, I used some wood clue. Overall quality of these holders are good. Was disappointed in Amazon's packaging.

This is a very neat item. The incense sticks fit very well in the holes and the areas for cone incense will prove to be useful in the future I'm sure. The design of the box is very simple and has a wonderful handmade look. (Apparently they ARE handmade in India.) The wood gives it a soft visual appeal, and, as the smoke floats out of the top of the box when it's closed, it adds to the environment of serenity that I usually aim for when lighting incense.

The only problems were that one of the Buddhas on the side had some hot glue spilled out over the side and one of the cone incense holder has a little dent, though these are in no way obvious defects and the box still looks fabulous.

Freaking fantastic! how do you beat the quality and price of this? has two spots for sticks, two spots for cones and a storage area on the bottom! LOVE IT!!!

Overall a great little incense burner. The trap door thing is a nice feature, and the finish and accents look nice.

The only problem I had was that the item arrived broken. The 3 sections of the swinging door on top had come apart. It looked like a mix of two factors: the packaging was not all that great for a relatively fragile item like this, and the glue on these joints did not appear that to be that well done. It was honestly not worth the effort to re-package and send back; I used some simple wood glue, taped it to hold it (which peeled the stain a bit, too bad), and it was good to go in an hour.

I would recommend the item as it is a nice piece for a nice price, however, the seller should insure both better gluing and better packaging.
