4.0 out of 5 stars Suduko Board
Nice wooden board. NO MORE ERASING!! But it doesn't have enough of the small numbers to completely work the harder puzzles. Also, it only hold 4 small numbers. Went to the local hobby store to get wood to make more small numbers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Suduko game
The box does not have a cover so I needed to put rubber bands around it to keep the sheets of paper with the box. There are not enough of the small numbers to fully play a difficult level where you are quessing the correct number. Suduko is Suduko, there is only one way to play it, so for me it is these features that make me not want to suggest others to purchase this...

I really liked the product. The only thing I would have like more is that it came with more of the smaller pieces. Other then that I liked it very much.

5.0 out of 5 stars love it, November 13, 2007
Sudoku is the kind of thing I love. Crossword puzzles are always so subjective.. but logic is logic. And anyone can be logical. Anyways, the little tiles are a big step up from all the little tiny numbers I used to cram into the newspaper squares.. or even the scratch paper I would use to solve Sudoku problems on my glass set. The cover design lets you change the problems easily.. and of course it all packs away so neatly when you are done.

Being a lover of sudoku, I was looking forward with great anticipation to be able to have a board game I could leave set out.
How disappointing to find it was useless for playing any puzzle medium level or higher. There needs to be at least 3x as many
mini tiles. I am having to resort to using pencil and paper. I have another sudoku board game that was given to me that had pieces missing
so I thought with the mini tiles from that game I would be OK even though other reviews said there needed to be more tiles. Well, 162 tiles is not enough for the
harder puzzles. Guess I will just stick to my nintendo DS sudoku

Gave this as a gift to my mom and she loves it. It looks just like the picture, pieces are constructed nicely, drawer slides out easily and works well as storage. Definitely a good purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars fun, but not all included puzzles are solvable with logic, January 2, 2010
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars

I received this for Christmas, and have played 9 or 10 of the included puzzles. I've enjoyed it, and find that it's frequently easier for me to solve the difficult puzzles in this media than it was using pencil and paper.
Up until today, I haven't had any issues with running out of the "guessing" blocks (a common complaint in several other reviews), since I try to fill in only the known values until I get most of the puzzle solved. Today, however, I was playing puzzle 95 and due to the fact that that particular puzzle has multiple valid solutions, I quickly ran out of the "guessing" blocks as well. Ideally, Sudoku puzzles should have a unique solution -- if multiple answers are valid for the same space, the board simply isn't sufficient for solving the puzzle. The problem is not with the board though -- it's with the puzzle's designer.
So, if one of the first 10 puzzles I attempted suffers from this problem, I suspect others will also.
My advice to those who are playing the included puzzles -- if one seems particularly challenging, use an online sudoku logic checker to determine if the puzzle actually has a singular solution and/or if it can be solved without guessing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice look, poor design, January 10, 2011

This sudoku board has a nice look, but the design left something to be desired. The main problem is that the entire side of the box, including the "frame" around the grid, pulls out for the drawer. So there is no edge or molding holding the plastic grid and the tiles in place when the drawer is open. If you're storing the number tiles in the drawer you'll tend to leave it open when you play, and if you bump the box at all, the grid can shift and the bottom row of number tiles is likely to fall out into the drawer. My other complaint with the design was that the dividers in the drawer that hold the number tiles are too short to contain the rows of tiles. This means that even if you've neatly placed the number tiles in their individual rows when you put the box away, if you jostle it or turn it on its side at all, the tiles will slide around inside the drawer and get all mixed up again. Overall, we found it took nearly as long sort out the mixed up tiles to get started, set up the puzzle and then clear the board afterward than it did to solve the puzzle!

I really liked the idea of a playing board for sudoku--especially for harder puzzles that you might want to leave and come back to later--plus it seemed a nice way to work on a puzzle with someone. But, although this board looks nice initially, we found the above-mentioned design flaws too annoying and decided to return it. I'm going to look for one where the drawers pull out from the middle of the side, leaving the frame around the grid in place, instead. Oh, one other thing--the board was so tightly packed in the package box it came in that we had to break the cardboard box corners to get it out, and they left glue on the corners of the wooden game box. Another annoyance, especially since it was intended as a gift.

My dad has macular degeneration so I have to make big sudoku puzzles on my computer and print them out (so the numbers are 3/4" or bigger). That takes a lot of time so when I saw this, I thought "PERFECT"! he can reuse the sheets of paper and never need to print more. He can't use the "thinking" pieces because they are really small, but since the big ones are red on the other side - he can use the red ones and then flip them over to black when he's sure of the number. HOWEVER I never anticipated the problem with his hands shaking. You have to fit these little tiles in their holes and his hands shake kind of bad sometimes and it frustrates him that he can't get themn in their slots. So I am back to making the big puzzles - but for anybody else, it would have been a great idea!!

Purchased this as a gift for my mother. She leave it out on her coffee table and plays as she has time. It appears to be of a reasonably nice quality.
