This mannequin is very nice for artist reference. I was excited when I got mine, however I am disappointed. The hips are not full range of motion. They only move front to back. So posing your mannequin in a fighting stance, or doing a side kick, or sitting on a barbie horse (what my sister tried to do), it just doesn't work.

The hips have the same range of motion as a lego figure, the mannequin however does have bendable knees and ankles

For its price, it's okay?

I have trouble getting this thing to stand up straight when doing poses that require most of the weight to be shifted to one side without it face planting on my desk. Of course you might say, "Well no s***...", but honestly, it does that when I even lift up one leg. Though I suppose it doesn't help that the metal rod holding up the mannequin started to lose it's grip and now leans around. Also doesn't help that the wooden platform it's situated on isn't perfectly flat so it kind of rolls towards the side where metal bar is leaning which makes the mannequin shift it's weight towards that side even more and then, well... in a nutshell, gravity sucks when things that aren't supposed to fall over aren't made decently. Though perhaps I was just unlucky and got the defect.

Anyways:

As for poses. I wouldn't expect much. It was doing pretty good with simple standing poses before the metal rod decided to crap out on me. The head has okay range when it comes to twisting and bobbing, just don't expect it to be able to bob its head at the deeper angles a human can normally go. Well... you can try. It is possible to pull the head to those angles though the spring that's holding the head on would just snap it back to place.

For the arms; you can make it flail around like a madman who dislocated their arm sockets so have fun with that.

The torso it a bit limited. While the torso can twist at a full 360 degrees. The Torso can only bend over or backwards or side to side at a maximum of 45 degrees (rough estimate). So if you want them to roll into a ball or maybe pleasure themselves in a way that a contortionist could, then you'll be pretty disappointed.

Hips, can't move at all: 0/10.

The elastic holding one of the arms in place is weak so that the arm is not firm when posed.

I made a mistake in believing that the mannequin would readily stand upright and be fully posable. Bad on me, I should have had more realistic expectations given the price point. Not worth return shipping. Not worth buying if you want specific poses. Also, the arms seem a bit out of proportion in length. They reach nearly to the knees. I have long arms and mine only reach mid-thigh.

I bought this for my 10 year old granddaughter. She is an excellent artist and wanted to improve her proportions when drawing full figures. She specifically asked for this model. We gave it to her for Christmas. She uses it frequently. She says it really helps her understand exactly how the body moves one part in relation to another part. She is pleased, so I am pleased

I bought this item to help with my poses of my drawings i didn't get a chance to draw yet but i still needed too have this item just in case. When you try to move the arms etc. you get a feeling your moving like gears etc. which isn't to bad because the arms move with hardly any problems even though it does feel like there rubbing on something in the inside ...

The hip joints are glued in place which stops the legs from any sort of open rotation (no splits, side kicks or crouching). The femur portion of the legs can move forward and back but without being fully adjustable, it greatly limits the possible poses for the lower body. The upper body moves fairly well and can be posed into many different positions.

If you plan on using this mannequin for figure drawing, I wouldn't recommend it.

The mannequin was exactly as described, esp. after reading all the reveiws.
There is some limitation of leg movement as others have described, so if you need full range of motion, you should spend 8-12x the price of this one for one that has it. If that is not a big concern, then this one does fine.
The joints work as they should and will hold the positions you put it into just fine.
If people are worried about it wearing out, they need to realize this is not a toy, it is an art tool. If you use it as a toy (give to a child, for example) then yes, it will wear out or break a lot faster.
I'm satisfied with the quality and the product itself. Thanks!
