5.0 out of 5 stars Hauntingly Beautiful
This instrumental CD is hauntingly beautiful in its complex layering of the music. While the music is sophisticated, it is at the same time simple and unobtrusive. The perfect CD to close your eyes and meditate to, as it lifts your thoughts, and carries your imagination through the forests primeval. I am on my second copy of this, having long worn out the original tape...

3.0 out of 5 stars about this music CD woodlands..........
I find that the first and the last song is not bad while the rest are so so and not say very nice. What I can say about Narada music in general is that not all Narada's music album are nice.....what this mean is that only selected music is well only. I don;t know how people can say that Narada music are whole thing good and nice but when you purchase back and play a few...

The perfect CD to close your eyes and meditate to, as it lifts your thoughts, and carries your imagination through the forests primeval. I am on my second copy of this, having long worn out the original tape of it that I had. It is timeless, ageless, and never tiring in its appeal. A must have for ANYONE who loves music, new age or otherwise!

5.0 out of 5 stars Peaceful and beautiful., July 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Woodlands (Audio CD)
This is some of the only music I've been able to find that is both relaxing and truly beautiful. It's full of folk- and classically influenced tunes and the instruments are used skillfully. While simple, the music retains a pre-baroque, renaissance flavor through a lot of it. The highlights for me are Oaks, with ocarina as wind instrument, and Bamboo, and oriental-sounding one. All the music perfectly captures the feeling of sitting in the forest on a perfect day and watching the wind send ripples through the green light.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best, June 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Woodlands (Audio CD)
This is the one album that has stayed with me through nine years, two copies, and countless, countless plays. It uplifts, it relaxes, it soothes, and it makes me realize the possibility of beauty in so much. It is as close to chamber music as we are making these days. The best new age album ever.

This CD is wonderful for background relaxation music...I listen to it at work, and frequently have people ask me what it is. I worked in a nature store that used it as background music. All are very beautiful and elegantly orchestrated songs, no lyrics. Great for yoga, mediation, background, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars A longtime favorite, September 6, 2007

Humming a tune from this CD recently made me wonder what it was. It had been a very long time since I had last played it, so the music affected me very deeply if I could still remember one of my favorite pieces from it. An all-time favorite musical collection, with enough impact to stick out from the many tunes I've heard through the years. My favorite is "Willow," but there is undoubtedly enough to have everyone pick their own favorite from the selection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peaceful, beautiful "background" music. We love it!, September 6, 1998

I've owned this CD for years and I love it. It has some of the most beautiful, peaceful music on it! Everyone I've ever shared it with has agreed with me and wanted to know who the artists were. Even my teenaged daughter loves it! I also love their CD's Legends, Give and Take, and In the Garden as well. Think I'll collect them all.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than 5 Stars, June 25, 2011
This review is from: Woodlands (Audio CD)
This was one of the first CDs I ever got, probably 15 years ago. It has remained one of my favorites for all that time. It is great for when I'm feeling down or have a headache or just need to relax in general. Another review was titled "hauntingly beautiful" and it is SO true! Thank you very much to the artists that created this wonderful set of pieces.

Came across this 1987 recording in a box of old cassette tapes, listened to it and had to buy the CD immediately! Relaxing and inspiring music that really captures the Woodlands mood ...

this is one of the best most relaxing CDs in my collection. Too bad they didn't make more of them. If you have the opportunity to purchase Woodlands you will not be sorry.
