Can I move to Glenbrooke?,
This review is from: Woodlands (Glenbrooke, Book 7) (Paperback)
I began reading this series as a lark, just a quick something to occupy my time. I fell in love with Glenbrooke. Everone knows you and there is a warmth and kinship that is hard to reproduce in real life. Leah and Seth are wonderful people. I love how Ms Gunn always makes certain that the characters do some soul searching before making commitments. A pleasant old-time romance, this book (and the others in the series) are great for a relaxing, touching read.

An excellent addition to the series,

In "Woodlands," Robin Jones Gunn adds a seventh book to the Glenbrooke series, creating another captivating plot with a charming heroine. Readers will not only meet new characters, but catch a glimpse of some old friends as well, and an old mystery is solved along the way. The beauty of this book is that can stand alone, although first-time readers of Robin Jones Gunn may want to start with "Secrets" and read through the series in the order in which it was written. Enjoy the read, because this is a book well worth buying!

My favorite in the series!,

I thought this was the best book in her series because Leah seemed so much like so many people I know. She was such a giving, loving person-beautiful inside and out, but did not feel like she was. So when she meets a wonderful man and he sees her beauty it is so sweet. She had so many negative voices from her childhood, especially the ones referring to her name, to overcome to accept love that it was an inspiration to me.

I really like this series. Woodlands is not my favorite, but definitely worth the read. I liked this story. It's always a treat catching up with friends from previous Glenbrooke stories. I felt that Seth and Leah had too many misunderstandings between them. They didn't trust each other, which hurt the story in my opinion. The lack of trust between the 2 main characters was the reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5.

Have you ever wanted to live in a small peaceful town where everyone is nice to everyone? There's always someone there you can count on? Well the Glenbrooke Series is just that. A small town in Oregon where people know everyone and everything for as a whole is calm and peaceful. But each character in the series has their own trials in store for them. Leah Hudson never thought of herself as someone particularly pretty. She was kind of known as the "ugly duckling." I'm sure everyone remembers what happends to that "Ugly duckling" by the end of the story, he becomes beautiful. Leah Hudson has always lived in Glenbrooke, Oregon her whole life. She took care of her parents when they were old, when all her sisters went off and married. Her life hadn't been to eventful she'd never traveled much, to anything. But her whole world would be turned upside down when she meets Seth Edwards (yes, he was mentioned in the Christy & Toddy: The College years book #1). Seth was known by his uncle as being a bit out there. He took a year off from school and went traveling around to different places. When he comes back to Glenbrooke and meets Leah things start to spark between them. But when Seth's uncle dies Leah starts to learn a few things from Seth's uncle's lawyer's son (yes, I'm sorry that's a bit of a triangle) about Seth's past. Leah has to learn who to trust and who not to. Is she willing to trust an old high school friend and give up her relationship with Seth? Or is she willing to listen to Seth? This is a great book, and one of my favs. :-) Robin Jones Gunn is just a terrific writer and things are very realistic. I do recommend if you want to read this book to also read the first 6 books. Since it's a series about a town the characters in the book are usually in the earlier books and you get to learn something new about them in almost every book.

Encouraging book~,

Robin Jones Gunn is my favorite author, and I have read all of her books. (Including her books for teens) Normally I would rate all of her books with 5 stars, but I felt like this particular book did not have as much of a plot as the rest of her books. It's still a great book, especially because you get to visit her imagined, charming little town of Glenbrooke, Oregon. All of her writing ties in with each other, so you get to visit your favorite past characters once again in every book. Her writing is very unique, and I wouldn't pass up this book if you are a fan. She captures your heart and your eyes, and it is difficult to tear yourself away, once you've begun reading. She implements a strong spiritual aspect to all of her writing, and her characters are VERY encouraging to our own personal spirits. Her charaters love God, and she potreys their feelings extremely well. I feel like the two main characters in this book are very unique from her others, but they are just as endearing. Overall it was quite enjoyable to read this book!
