Does a great job, October 22, 2009
This review is from: Woodlore 3" Suede Bar And 3" Brush (Apparel)
I used the eraser and brush, along with some leather cleaner, to clean some dirty suede chaps that I wear horseback riding and the results are pretty impressive. The suede was pretty filty - caked with dirt, worn smooth in places, cleaning was long overdue. (I've never seen suede shoes or jackets that looked that bad.) Now it looks almost as good as new. My only complaint is that black suede doesn't look brand new when you're done because it's hard to get all the white eraser particles out. Cleaning with just the brush and leather cleaner (no eraser) will keep black suede black, but it won't get rid of the worst dirt or bring out the nap in smoothed areas.
If you're wondering how I cleaned my chaps: First I used the brush to get rid of caked dirt, then I used some leather cleaner on the brush to clean off whatever remaining dirt I could. After rinsing and drying the brush, I used it to bring back the nap of the suede where I could. Then I used the eraser to clean the spots that I had thought were permanently smoothed, and finished with the brush to bring back the nap in those areas as well.
Also, the brush and eraser are made in USA.

Very clever cleaner, October 18, 2009
This review is from: Woodlore 3" Suede Bar And 3" Brush (Apparel)
The product description couldn't be more precise. Very good product for very little money. The eraser, even smells like an eraser, almost completely removed the dirty brown toe marks on the footbed of my Dansko Sissy sandals; the footbed is called Dri-Lex and feels like Nubuck leather or suede. Make sure you rub it several different ways over the item your cleaning in order to remove the dirt. After erasing away the toe marks, the brush lifted up the nap and removed the eraser particles/powder. Note: I also used Dr. Marten's Wonder Balsalm to condition the leather upper; another wonderful product. The shoes look brand new!

Not Very Effective, May 18, 2011
This review is from: Woodlore 3" Suede Bar And 3" Brush (Apparel)
I own a pair of suede Original Clarks Desert Boots which have gotten a little dirty from normal use. I was hoping that this product would be able to clean them up. Although it was able to get rid of some of the dirt, it was not very effective overall.
Interestingly enough, my package was branded as Allen Edmonds, not Woodlore, although neither the bar nor the brush had any labels on them. I'm not sure if the companies are associated with one another, but I know and like Allen Edmonds so I didn't take any issue with this change-up.
The bar has the same texture of an eraser. In fact, I'm left wondering if a Magic Rub would have done the same thing. It just rubbed off some of the caked dirt, but didn't affect any of the darker spots on my boots; needless to say, it didn't do anything for stains. I started out using them with great caution, but in the end I really had to rub it in for it to have any affect. The suede was left lighter than the original color where I used the bar.
The brush is the worst part of the set. The hair is cheap and falls out easily. The wood is just as cheap and an overly light material. Mine was already fractured on the side when I opened the package. I want to stress that the brush is 3". I know it's right in the product name, but I glanced over it when purchasing on Amazon and was a little surprised at how small the whole package was when I opened it. The brush fibers are too rough, and damage the suede instead of restoring its texture after using the bar. It's only apparent purpose that I found was to clear off the residue left by the eraser.
In the end, some of the surface dirt marks were lightened and reduced. But my boots are quite new and not all that dirty, and I was expecting a far better end result. It did nothing to reduce any of the deeper smudges, even of plain dirt. It somewhat noticeably discolored (lightened) my sand-colored boots, and I could only use it so much in one spot before it began to take a serious toll on the suede's texture. I know this seems like a cost-saving solution compared to many of the alternatives, but I am convinced there are comparable products that would prove to be far more effective.
I would not recommend this product.
