Does just what it promises - turns on the power for 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours, or endlessly at the push or two of the one button!

Exactly what I wanted, at a moderate price. It covers more space on the outlet than I'd like; if placed in the lower plug on a dual outlet, it blocks the top plug, not a fatal problem.

11-18-09 I bought a second, to run more electrical appliances for specific numbers of hours and no more.

4-2-10 The one I use daily for an hour finally blew some interior component, so I got another. A very handy device.

1-15-11 Still using daily to turn on a space heater for a hour to either pre-heat the cold bathroom for use or dry it out after showers. Invaluable.

3-15-11 The replacement blew out, but I had another as a spare to swap in. Maybe running a 1500 watt heater an hour or two a day shortens the life somewhat.

Bought this to use with my Black and Decker 18v drill/etc battery charger. These chargers are "Dumb" and will fry your battery over time, so you need to turn off or put a timer on it so you don't overcharge. This little item fit the bill perfectly.

Edit 2-12:
Ok, there is some kind of error in this thing, noticed a long time ago but just now getting around to it. The 1st one worked great for 9 mos, then began having erratic timing. Got another one, same thing but right out of box. Avoid this item.

Great - until i killed it. January 6, 2011

Really liked this timer. I bought it to make sure my 1500 watt heater was turned off in my shop. At least one review said it was great for heaters. I should have paid more attention when I got it out of the box. It's a 1000 watt unit. My fault I killed it but it would have been awesome if it could handle a 1500 watt oil heater.

I docked a star - not for the unit but for the specs on amazon. It should really say what it's capacity is.

Great tool
Does great with batteries that you don't want to over charge. It is limited to only 8 hours. Would like to see 24 hours, but, it's just a button push to set it up.
