5.0 out of 5 stars The Name says it all
Just received the book yesterday and read about half of it already! This book covers everything you need to know about Dust Control and prepares you for your own Shops system. It covers more that one solution to just about every problem a woodworker could be concerned with. One thing that I also like is that the book covers home made systems that compare to what you can...

2.0 out of 5 stars Complete it is not
Basically what I found is just when the book was getting into enough detail to be useful the section would end.

The book is fine if you haven't ever read an article on dust control. But a two page section on dust control from sanders right at the end of the book??? Come on give us a little meat here. Little detail is given on how to control dust with jigs or...

Just received the book yesterday and read about half of it already! This book covers everything you need to know about Dust Control and prepares you for your own Shops system. It covers more that one solution to just about every problem a woodworker could be concerned with. One thing that I also like is that the book covers home made systems that compare to what you can buy commercially. Also, this book has plenty of well drawn figures and pictures that guide you through the reading. 5 Stars for this one, Its a must have reference!

This book is very nice for the price. Many color photo's and diagrams. It covers everything from masks, shop vacs, purchased and homemade fine dust filters, single and dual stage dust collectors and piping systems. I picked up a number of helpful tips. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you need to know about dust collection, September 6, 2005
This review is from: Woodshop Dust Control (Paperback)
This book was expertly written yet easy to understand for the week-end woodworker. The illustrations, explanations and the subject matter was very enlightening. Installing my first dust collection system in my shop will be a lot easier now that I have Sandor's book to lead me through the process. I recommend this to any woodworker who is thinking about dust collection systems for his woodshop.

I innocently went on the www looking for info on dust control for my garage shop and found a huge amount of information. To sum up:

1. Woodshop dust should be avoided as it is surprisingly hazerdous and, of course, messy and hard to clean up.

2. Dust control is expensive.

3. There are different of opinion as to what equipment and techniques should be used.

This book is nicely done and sums up the most common dust control techniques. You can read this book, get some ideas and then search further for information pertaining to your own shop situation.

I knocked off a star because it was vague about controlling dust from small tools such as hand sanders.

Basically what I found is just when the book was getting into enough detail to be useful the section would end.

The book is fine if you haven't ever read an article on dust control. But a two page section on dust control from sanders right at the end of the book??? Come on give us a little meat here. Little detail is given on how to control dust with jigs or with equipment that doesn't have dust control.

I gave it 2 stars because I found it wasn't technically detailed enough to be useful and very vague in areas that really needed attention. Took me 3 hours to read it..I'll put it on the book shelve where ironically enough it will probably gather dust.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK Book ...spends a lot of time on common sense stuff, January 2, 2008

The book is ok, but I wish he would spend more time on running a DC system in a small home shop. Also, a topic I was interested in (grounding a pvc based system) was brushed over in less than a page.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book on Dust Control and Collection Method, July 3, 2006
This review is from: Woodshop Dust Control (Paperback)
This book provides a complete and detailed writing on the methods for woodshop dust control methods. It covers different strategies for controlling dust from simple respiratory protection devices(masks), shop ventillation and air filtration and dust collecting machines (portable and central units).
It discusses the advantages and disadvantages of each method for different situations and how to optimize each strategy for a given situation. Great and interesting book. Written in practical and easy to understand manner.

I don't know what I would have done without this book when I set out to design a dust control system for my shop. It provides the material claimed by the add and is well presented.

5.0 out of 5 stars The "All-Inclusive" book on the topic of dust collection, April 20, 2009

Ok, you've got to be getting pretty specific if you are looking at buying a book solely devoted to an over-sized vacuum cleaner that sits in the corner of your garage. HOWEVER, if you need this information, it has to be compiled by someone!
Sandor does a great job of taking this topic and logically covering the topic of dust collection. He considers your needs, a small shop-vac to huge steel-ducted multi-stage collector rooms that you build OUTSIDE the shop!
I found several usable tips and recommendations in this book and will put the ideas to work. If you've thought, "Dang I'm vacuuming a lot in here," or, "Cough, cough, cough, cough....Ewww, what's that?" you should take a look at this book. It addressed a very specific issue realistically and seriously enough to be extremely thorough.
Highly recommended for serious woodworkers!

I think it's wise to read this book before you spend the big bucks. I like the way that he tells of different avenues to DUST Control and also tells you where you can find the products spoken of in the book, he even touches on the effects that dust can have on us, all in all I would say that this book is well written and would recommend it to anyone looking to set up some form of dust control in their shop.
