4.0 out of 5 stars Are... you... READY?!?!?!?
Ahh... woodstock! Three days of love... well, for the most part. I've heard some pretty bad things about what went on at this concert. In my personal opinion, rape is the lowest form of activity that anyone could participate in and anyone who rapes another person deserves to BURN IN HELL. Now, having said that, I will now review the music. They (who? you may ask... THEM,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Good, Not Bad
Well, I bought this CD on an impulse, after just scanning and seeing that it had good bands... and well, it only has a few rocking songs. It would have been much better if there was more than one song per artist... Another koRn, Alanis, or Live song could have EASILY replaced the one-hit wonders like Godsmack, Kid rock, and Jamiroquai... who the hell is Jamiroquai...

Ahh... THEM, DAMMIT! LOL) decided to release this as a 2 disc set... I think that's a pretty groovy idea because the musical styles on the two cd's are very different. On to the review... now I can't review EVERY track on each CD but I'll hit on (in my opinion) the high notes..

DISC ONE: THE RED DISC: Alrighttt..... ROCK N ROLL, BAYBEEE!! *throws up some metal* Talk about "The Hard and The Heavy". I was completely blown away by this disc! I actually hadn't heard of half the artists on this cd until I bought it... but I took a chance and boy am I glad I did! The red disc delivers over an hour of in your face rock and roll. Sure, these weren't the ABSOLUTE BEST songs sung at woodstock? lol But anyway, it all pretty much rocks and even though I hadn't heard of a lot of the musicians when I first got this cd, I sat there and listened to and enjoyed the whole thing. If you're a fan of heavier rock music, then the red disc is for you! But.... there is another... skywalker.. oops.. no, wait... there is another... disc. LOL

DISC TWO: THE BLUE DISC: Ahh the blue disc. What a break from all the hard stuff on the red disc! If you like the softer side of music, then this disc is the one for you! I actually bought the whole woodstock 99 album because a friend of mine brought the blue disc to school one day and I listened to it. I really liked it, even though I didn't know who a lot of the people on it were. It's just good music and I can respect that. There isn't a bad song on here.

STANDOUT CUTS: THE RED DISC

Korn-Blind, The Offspring-The Kids Aren't Alright, Kid Rock-Bawitdaba, RATM-Bulls On Parade (personal fave), Godsmack-stay away, Red Hot Chilli Peppers-Fire (Hendrix, baybeeee)

STANDOUT CUTS: THE BLUE DISC:

Dave Matthews Band-Tripping Billies, Everlast-Ends, Everclear-Santa Monica(Watch The World Die), The Roots-Adrenaline (My second fave from this disc), Elvis Costello-Alison (Personal fave)

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Great collection. At best, it's great and at worst, it's good. The mastering is clear on all tracks except the Korn song. Any fan of music should own this cd and try to forget about the bad stuff that happened at the concert.

It would have been much better if there was more than one song per artist... Another koRn, Alanis, or Live song could have EASILY replaced the one-hit wonders like Godsmack, Kid rock, and Jamiroquai... who the hell is Jamiroquai anyways? and what was the deal with that stupid 'interlude'? Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of good songs like "I Alone" "everything Zen" and "Santa Monica", but somehow I feel cheated cuz I know that for a double-CD album of a GREAT concert I should listen to all 33 songs 24/7, not just 12 every now and then.

3.0 out of 5 stars could have been better, December 26, 1999

I liked this cd alot but there was some setbacks like on some tracks you can barely hear the singer , a good example of this would be Korn's "Blind" I heard about two lines. The song itself is good though. Other than that this cd is awesome.

1.0 out of 5 stars All the best songs were left off........ WHY ?, November 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Woodstock 99 (Audio CD)
First of all let me start of by saying Woodstcok was great. The media blew up what happened on Sunday night, when all it was, was us blowing off steam at the hole production of it. Now onto the CD, it is half way decent but there is no and I mean no emotion in it at all..So many songs were left off that DEFINATELY should have been on there. For example Sheryl Crow's version of "Sweet Chlid of Mine".....Mickey Harts -Fire on the Mountain, Collective Souls version of an OZZY song, Kid Rocks cover of a John Fougerty tune, and they could have picked a much better song from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, like half way through their set when they just JAMMED. Plus countless more. Whoever put this together should be fired. As a vetran of both Woodstock 94' & 99' I am very dissapointed in this CD, I hope whoever is listening will take my advice and put out the real WOODSTOCK 99' Album, it will do alot better than what you have here. Enough said ! -Mike-

4.0 out of 5 stars Red cd's good, Blue cd's.... ok, February 9, 2001
This review is from: Woodstock 99 (Audio CD)
This is the closest you can get to re-living Woodstock 99 without all the fires, riots, rapes, & overflowing toilets.

The Red disc is pretty good- It has great live songs from KoRn, Kid Rock, Rage, Offspring, Lit, Megadeth, Metallica, Live, Chili Peppers, Creed, Bush, Sevendust, & Godsmack. The Limp Bizkit song on here is not that great- I'm not a big fan of them or anything, but still, Show Me What You Got? If you were gonna put one of their fewer good songs on there put Break Stuff on! I skip over Buckcherry & DMX cause I hate them- Buckcherry just plain old sucks, and my god, they had to waste that track with an awful rapper like DMX- If you're gonna put a rapper on, two words- ICE CUBE! The interlude is just some guy saying "Ok, that fire really is a problem, we need to let the firemen get through"- what a waste of space- We all watched the news, we all heard about the little fire incident, no need to waste a track for something like that.

Now, as for the Blue Disc, there's a pretty interesting variety of music on here- Dave Matthews, Brian Setzer, Bruce Hornsby, Guster, Everlast, Everclear, Jamiroquai, G Love, Rusted Root, Alanis Morisette. If you have diverse taste you'll enjoy it. I said the Blue disc was "....ok" because I noticed that Wycleaf insn't on it! But nooo, they had to put Elvis Costello on! I also would've loved to see a Counting Crows song on there- They're a LOT better than Our Lady Peace! And what's up with EVERCLEAR on the blue disc?! They're pretty heavy- they should've been on the red cd instead of that stupid interlude!

Woodstock 99 had its fair share of good bands & bad bands- Even almost 3 years after the event I still ask this one question: HOW THE HELL DID SUGAR RAY GET ON THAT STAGE? and who the hell got INSANE CLOWN POSSEE in??

So in conclusion, if you only like loud heavy stuff, get the Red cd. If you like soft stuff, get the Blue cd. If you have extremely diverse taste and like both loud & soft(like me), get the 2-disc set.

3.0 out of 5 stars Woodstock 99, January 30, 2000
This review is from: Woodstock 99 (Audio CD)
This is a pretty good cd. I would have liked more songs like the orginal in a 4 cd set with 2-3 songs for every band. The better bands like Green Day and Beastie Boys should have replaced one-hit wonders. Some songs are great but the entire concert should have been covered alot better with more songs and all the bands. Then it would truely be a great CD. Also some bands played other songs that were better than others that were put on the CD.

3.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed the red CD very much, but the blue CD?, January 22, 2000
This review is from: Woodstock 99 (Audio CD)
I'm glad that they're releasing the blue CD and the red CD seperate. I got the 2CD set for xmas and here's my review:

#1: I know for a fact that Green Day was there. So where were they on the CD? That dumb interlude shoulda been a Green Day track. #2: WHERE WERE THE BEASTIE BOYS? They had LIT there! Now, I have nothing against Lit, but they haven't even been out for a year! Beastie Boys? 14 years almost! And where were they? #3: BLUE ALBUM SUCKS. The only good track on this one was Everclear.

Again: they're releasing 'em seperate. Get whichever one you'd like.

3.0 out of 5 stars I was there-and some of these songs barely showed up, October 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Woodstock 99 (Audio CD)
sheryl crow doesn't even deserve to be on the cd. her performance was a low of woodstock, even more of a horror than the fires. i wish they would have focused more on the acts that rocked woodstock.(offspring, sevendust, limp bizkut, kid rock). it would be cool if they came out with cd's covering their whole set. This cd doesn't to it for me, i didn't even see half of those acts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good compilation....But DMX?? PLEASE!!!, October 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Woodstock 99 (Audio CD)
I really liked this 2 CD set!!. Specially the Red CD ...wich includes KoRn, Limp Bizkit, Metallica etc. The Blue Cd also has some good performances from Alanis, Dave Mathews Band etc. I only have two problems with it. First, KoRn....What happened to Jonatahan's voice??. There's so much bass that he can hardly be heard. The other songs are heard very clearly, but I was a little dissapointed when I heard Blind. Now don't get me wrong!!...The song STILL ROCKS!!!. I love that song!!. I only wish the sound was better. But, then you realize that they only played once...so all's forgiven!!. The second complaint...DMX??. What the hell's this idiot doing here!!??. This is supossed to be a Rock CD. I hate him!!. And to top it all he appears in one of the Cds that I waited the most!!. But the rest is pure Heaviness, with Metallica performing Creeping Death!!! YES!!. You also get Rage Against the Machine, Limp Bizkit, Godsmack, Sevendust...well, Just BUY IT if you are a fan of this music!!!. You're going to love it!!. OH!! Before I forget!!. Somebody do the WORLD a favor and tell Kid SUCK...I mean ROCK to GET A LIFE!!. HE STINKS!!. I only wish that somebody had hitted him when they started to throw objects at him on the show!!. REAL HARD!!. In the head!!. sorry *** punk...OK I'm finished!!.

Title line says it all. I love the red disc, has all my favorite bands on it. The second disc could be better, but it was worth the $ I paid for it.
