Woodstock Chimes are the original, musically-tuned, high-quality windchimes known worldwide for their superior sound. When listening to a Woodstock Chime, you hear a fine musical instrument played by the wind, perfectly hand-tuned using the ancient system of “just intonation” based on natural harmonics. This means the frequencies at which the different tubes vibrate are related to one another by simple whole-number ratios. Tones that are related in this way produce the most beautiful musical intervals. The sonic effect is exceptionally pure and soothing.
More than 30 years ago, the first Woodstock Chime was created by founder and owner Garry Kvistad from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. As a professional musician and instrument designer, he was fascinated by the Scales of Olympos, a 7th century pentatonic scale that can’t be played on a modern piano. Garry had the idea to cut and tune the lawn chair tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The resulting Chimes of Olympos was the first Woodstock Chime and is still one of our bestselling windchimes. Garry and his wife Diane founded Woodstock Percussion, Inc. in 1979 and it remains a family-owned business in New York’s Hudson Valley.

this windchime is tops! the sounds emit relaxation and soft natural sounds. i collect windchimes and i admit this is my favorite. tamra

I have had Woodstock Wind Chimes for years. The wood top got weather beaten after about 8 years. I called them. They said to send it to them. They put new wood on it, checked the tuning and restrung it. What did they charge?????? NOTHING !!All they asked was that I would "pass the word" or remember them when I need a gift. So I am doing both..... telling all of you and I'm buying a couple for gifts. This is a Great price too!!! You can't go wrong with Woodstock Wind Chimes. Made in the Catskill Mountains of New York!! BUY AMERICAN !

I tend to like the bigger windchimes -- the ones with full, rich tones. But it's good to have a tinkler around to complete the sound spectrum. The tones ring clear with no dissonance. The sound is very peaceful, despite the high pitch that comes from such short chimes. There is one problem, however. One side of the wind catcher (the diamond-shaped part at the bottom) has a reflective part that is meant to catch the sun, and refract and reflect the various colors of the light. Unfortunately the disk is nothing more than a reflective sticker. The temperature and humidity changes between night and day in autumn have caused this sticker to begin to peal. I suspect within a few weeks it will come completely off.
