5.0 out of 5 stars Music to My Ears
These chimes are wonderful!! I had an opportunity to listen to every type of Woodstock wind chime made and the Gregorian Tenor chimes are the best, in my opinion. The intonation is much more like a musical instrument than a typical wind chime and far better than standard wind chimes. Visitors to my house have commented on their beautiful music and I have purchased them...

2.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful sound... when you can hear them.

I bought these chimes because of the beautiful tone they produce. However, it takes a very strong wind to make the chimes sound. It appears that the wooden center piece is set too far away from the tubes (i.e. it's too small) and the sail is a little small.

I've seen other Woodstock chimes at Lowes recently, and those had different wooden parts that...

I've seen other Woodstock chimes at Lowes recently, and those had different wooden parts that created a sound with a smaller wind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best chimes I've ever owned!, August 29, 2004

My wife and I purchased the Tenor Chime this spring. We now realize you get what you pay for. These chimes have the best sound we've ever heard. It doesn't take much of a breeze for them to play.

These are great windchimes. They have a beautiful and pleasing tone. They catch the wind just right, so they are not constantly ringing, but chime just enough to be enjoyable.

I gave these chimes to my mother one month ago. She was surprised to get such a present, but she liked it from the very beginning because of the pure tone. It's hanging now outside and she enjoys it very much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not made in the USA... but in China, April 25, 2011

I noticed that it states that these chimes are manufactured in the states but my chimes label clearly states made in China. Just my 2 cents worth...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift, January 16, 2011

This was a big hit on Christmas. I did a fair amount of research online beforehand and read lots of reviews. I knew I wanted chimes with a deeper tone (no tinkleing little chimes would do). These had a nice rich tone. Of course the beauty of the Amazon site is you could listen to the chimes before you buy. When they arrived, they were true to the description AND the sound on the website.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Little Disappointed, August 27, 2007

I LOVE the SOUND of these chimes! They are tuned beautifully. And the wooden parts are "finished" very nicely. However, the strings holding everything together don't seem very strong. And the 1 1/2" diameter circle you use to hang the chime over a hook is made of such cheap plastic I think I could snap it with my bare fingers. I was very disappointed in the hangar. When you pay this much for a hand crafted chime, you expect ALL components to be high quality. I reinforced the hangar with a spare metal hoop I happened to have. We shall see.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth maintaining for years!, April 11, 2011
This review is from: Woodstock Chimes Gregorian Tenor Windchime (Lawn & Patio)
I've had this chime for 17 years and have always loved it. Since I keep it by my back door, hanging from the eave, I don't think it unreasonable that I've had to maintain it from time to time. The weakest link has been the staples that hold up the strings to the wooden top, but I know how to use a staple gun. The strings are long lasting, but with 365-day-a-year exposure to the elements, they have needed replacing occasionally. I've also oiled the wood with linseed oil to help extend its life. I'm a musician and to me these well-tuned chimes are very worth the price and the minor upkeep. A windy spring day when the windows are first open is my favorite. I'd love to add the baritone chime some time!
