I'm disappointed in the Temple Bell chimes. What others might choose to call "gentle tones" I myself would just call "weak." 5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing, May 17, 2002

I saw one of these wonders in a friend's Asian-themed garden. Hearing the chimes, I immediately went searching for the usual wind chimes. To my surprise, the rich tones came from this Pagoda-shaped array of bells which blended perfectly with the garden elements. There are no words to describe the sound. It is simply an amazing one. I could only wish these are delivered internationally.

5.0 out of 5 stars Temple bells are very soothing, August 22, 2005
This review is from: Woodstock Chimes Temple Bells, Quintet (Lawn & Patio)
I love my temple bells. My son gave me a gift certificate to Amazon for my birthday and it worked out perfectly because I was able to pick out things that I really liked. The temple bells are hanging outside next to our hummingbird feeder and it is very relaxing to watch the humingbirds and listen to the temple bells when the breeze blows.

I'm disappointed in the Temple Bell chimes. What others might choose to call "gentle tones" I myself would just call "weak." It's been very breezy here lately, but these Temple Bells seem to respond very poorly. I'm not even sure the top two chimes are EVER activated, but even the clappers on the bottom ones are more inclined to just go round and round the inside of the circular chime as opposed to actually striking notes. I think it's a design flaw. Maybe if the chimes were triangular or even square there would be more striking and less stroking by the clapper.

I hate to give such a bad review. From looking at the other chime offerings from Woodstock, many of them look like they would NOT disappoint. But this one did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Wind Chime, July 7, 2005

This chime appears to be well constructed and looks like it will hold up to the elements.(I've hung it up outside.) The design is very pretty and interesting to look at. The tone is wonderful, subtle, and relaxing. The tone is loud enough for me to hear it, but not that obnoxious kind of loud like some chimes sound. I'm really glad to have this chime and I recommend it. Having the chime on my patio makes it even nicer to spend relaxing time outdoors.

I bought this as a gift for a friend and decided to order one more for myself. It does not make too loud sound, so it's great for indoor or quiet garden. It's very much for the atmosphere of a "zen" home, so if you expect something like the regular wind-chime sound, this is a wrong choice for you. The color of copper is very nice, but more on the cool/earthy color side, not too shiny and rosy. And the size is good for any home and garden. It is long, but slim, so it fits even a very small room and won't look too intrusive. I like that it gives a subtle Asian flavor, but still fits with other styles.

We have bought three Woodstock chimes recently and the quality is excellent. The sound these chimes makes is wonderful! We have bought other mfg's chimes, but this mfg knows what they are doing. These chimes do have a neat shape.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok But Rarely Hear Bells Ring, September 17, 2010

The chimes are nice to look at but I don't think I have heard them ringing except when I've manually tugged on them to make them ring. Again, they look great but don't expect a lot of sound from them. I have other chimes hanging nearby and those are chiming almost around the clock. In the end I would not recommend these if you are looking for something to add to your "noisy" chimes collection. If you are just purchasing for looks then go for it--although I think the price is pretty steep for chimes that don't actually chime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely, simple bells with delicate tones., August 14, 2010

Our most recent set of Woodstock Temple Bells is actually a second set to complement the first hanging in our bedroom. We have a large expanse of windows and the temple bells serve as an attractive way to break up the sea of glass. While we have numerous Woodstock chimes outside but my tendency would be to use the temple bells inside or in a sheltered area. The bell tones are subtle and well-suited for a bedroom or other quiet area. This morning, I (or rather my cat) discovered a bonus. The bells' brass tail reflects light as it moves in the breeze. The kitty had a most satisfactory morning workout chasing that reflected light.
