2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price, not well described
I purchased this based on the overall description and the price was comparable to what a beginner's guitar was going for (119.99) at a retail store dedicated to just musical instruments; I thought this was going to be the same quality, just a lower price due to Christmas Sale Season. Boy was I wrong!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased, January 27, 2009

I was surprised at how well-made this toy is. I had the same problem with not being able to tune it properly and for very little dough, I took it to my local music store and had them replace the strings (can't remember exactly which ones were misapplied).

My three-year-old loves this guitar. It is much more like a real guitar than not and I'm pretty impressed with the sound quality and durability considering that it is made to be an instrument and not really a toy. I don't tune it all that often because she's just playing by herself and my goal was more to get her used to taking care of an instrument and enjoying what it is like to make her own music (as opposed to the pre-recorded junk that comes out of most guitars). She received this guitar as a gift, but I would've gladly paid for it myself and will probably do so in the future when I buy this for other children in my life.

Now if only they would make "toy" violins...

He's not even 2 yet, but my grandson loves guitar. I feel much better about getting him this guitar than a toy one. He won't get the educational part, or music lessons part, at his age. But he's having a great time with it.

I purchased this based on the overall description and the price was comparable to what a beginner's guitar was going for (119.99) at a retail store dedicated to just musical instruments; I thought this was going to be the same quality, just a lower price due to Christmas Sale Season. Boy was I wrong!!!

When the guitar arrived immediately I knew if I had given it to my 9 year old, or 6 year old for that matter, it would have been a huge disappointment to say the least. This toy is small and chincy, I would have been embarrased to make it or sell it to anyone knowing that a real guitar, with all the needed accesories, can be bought for [...] more at the store. This was soo poorly made, I thought that it was plastic at first, and that the strings may not even be have tuning adjustments. Moreover, the toy guitars at Toys R Us are less expensive, sturdier, and have better sound than this one did! I ended up going to the retail stores and spending the extra [...] to get a guitar that my daughter will enjoy learning on and actually looks and feels like a real instrument.

Getting your child this toy may end up turning them off to playing guitar at all..

This guitar did not feel like it would last very long. I did not like the strings, felt cheap. There is a horrible paint/vinyl smell I really did not want around my child. Sound quality was not that great. I returned it and recommend: Lauren LA30 30" Student Guitar

We got this for our son's 2nd birthday. He loves guitars! He already had it out of the box & was jamming on it. My husband seemed to tune it with no problem. I liked that it had a carrying case, strap & large pick for a child. It even came with music sheets. My son will love this for years to come.

I should have read the reviews more closely. My daughter had asked for a real guitar and not the toy models she had. I bought this thinking that it would be a better quality than those available at retail stores. Not even close. Its poorly constructed to say the least. There is no way a child can actually use this guitar to learn a thing. It's out of tune with one strum. The neck that the headstock were constructed with stone tools. It's hard to gain an appreciation for playing when you have to pick splinters out of your hand. But I digress. If your young child has a real desire to learn the instrument look elsewhere. If you want an overpriced toy, this is it.

Well this was a little smaller than what I expected it to be however it was perfect for my 5yr son. He absolutely loves it. It came with a black guitar case and pick which I like especially . Shipping was right on time for the holidays.

I wanted a guitar for my daughter but I didn't want anything too expensive. I also didn't want anything too cheap. This guitar is just "ok." The strings are fairly loose but will strum a tune. The tuning isn't right on either. The material is "ok" there are a few scratches and dents. Definetly looks like it was made in china. If you want the guitar just as a play toy it will do, but if you want one to introduce hoping your child may get interested in playing guitar I reccomend getting a real acoustic one made with real wood and real strings.

I'm satisfied with the purchase in the sense that I was looking for something guitar-like (to begin teaching my 2-year old girls how to care for delicate instruments), toddler-sized, toddler-durable, and made noise. It passes those simple tests.

The package comes with a tuning guide a song book. Throw them away. The guitar is barely able to be tuned (and doesn't stay in tune) and the fretting isn't close to being intoned properly even when playing simple chords. I didn't EXPECT that it would be playable for a $30 toy, but for anyone looking for a guitar with the intent teaching a child to PLAY GUITAR on, this is not the guitar you're looking for.
