Big Houses latest release "Woodstock Nation" is some of the best music out today. In a country music industry of George Stait and Garth Brooks wanna be's, it is refreshing to have a band with a sound and groove all it's own. This album consists of music ranging from country like the track: He Don't Need to Know About Me, to ballads like River Town, to the blues influenced Buck these Haggard Blues and Praying to Live. There is also a hidden track at the end of the CD that is just a rockin instrumental in the tradition of Carlos Santana and ZZ Top. Big House is truly an awesome house band and in my opinion, one of the best kept secrets in the music industry.

Big House gives such a rich texture to their music. You can't help but feel this music. It will make you want to dance, sing, cry, smile, laugh. The strong rythm instruments in the background build a solid foundation that the lead instruments and vocals turn into a master work. It has been in my CD changer since I bought it and will probably never be removed.

This is a Fine country rock/country blues album. I can't believe that this is not a top selling album. If radio in America was not so currupt this album would surely be on the airwaves. The sound quality when played on an audiophile system will knock your socks off. I like every song, even the hidden instrumental track. If you like good Americana or country rock music, than don't hesitate to get this CD.

Okay, so I got this disc in bargain bin for $1. Based on the cover I took a chance. Now I have been into almost very kind of music. Rock, blues and country are my faves. Poco used to be my favorite band. I have never heard anything like Big House. This recording has elements of country, blues, cajun, rock, and is recorded in a way that seperates the instruments into precise listening objects. The playing is flawless. The material is compelling. My favorite track is "Girl Can't Help It". The whole album has depth and emotion, and it all tingles on your stereo system like a crisp autumn day. Where has good music gone? This is it. If radio stations loved music, they'd play groups like Big House. This is something you have to get!! Big House may wind up in dollar stores all over the country. Your job is either to find it their, or buy one here on Amazon. This disc smokes!!! Check out other compendia.com artists and deadreckoners.com. All this stuff is organic, real and Americana. What American rock and roll should sound like.

I love Big House's first 2 albums because they're a great country-rock-blues band. Even with only 2 of the original band members left, this album is fantastic. They've gone even farther in the blues-rock-country direction and done a great job of it. I don't agree that the hidden instrumental track gets boring, and I usually do get bored with instrumental stuff. The only downfall to this album is that it will never find a home on any radio station I know of, which is only radio's loss.

Their first two CD's were a clean stripped down sound, this one is fuller and full of great lyrics and solid beat!

Rock solid country blues. Less mainstream than first album. Monty Byrom is an absolutely awesome Crooner. If you like off beat alternative country this is a must in your library.

High quality country rock, with integrity. How they've avoided the Big Time is a mystery. These guys should be HUGE! Grab anything of theirs you can get your hands on. Keep it coming, guys!

Big House's first 2 CDz rocked out with some definite gems. On their 3rd recorded set for Dead Reckoning, they again reach the stratosphere on several tracks. The opener "Geronimo's Moon" is a midtempo toe tapper with a plaintive lyric, "If there's blood in the sky & the crows refuse to fly, I can already tell there's a rumble down in hell; you can hear the sounds of hounds on my trail." One of my favorites is "Buck These Haggard Blues" which may be a nod to Merle, "Brother, you don't know what's hot when day to day is all you've got & the company's been renting you the shade." "Girl Can't Help It" is a perky tongue-in-cheek track with Steve Vines' frisky bass bouncing joyfully. My very favorite track is "Praying to Live" with its insistent beat Monty Byrom's funky electric lead guitar, "When you try to forgive, you better start with yourself; we're all praying to live & dyin' for a little help." Besides Hank Snow who wrote it, "I'm Movin' On" has been recorded by Ernest Tubb, Ike & Tina Turner, Steppenwolf, Emmylou Harris, Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones. In the hands of Big House, it rolls through like a freight train at cruising speed. The title track is a rather serious ode to the loss of innocence. "He Don't Need to Know" is a jaunty little country track about faithlessness. "Woodstock Nation" is a good set filled with little jewels. The feel of the playing is loose and flowing rather than sharp and tight, certain fun. Enjoy!

Great album. Monty Byrom's voice is just perfect for the songs, especially on 'Buck These Haggard Blues' and 'Praying To Live'. But he also knows how to handle a good ballad like 'Lonely Shade Of Blue'. Only downfall, the hidden instrumental track at the end, which demonstrates their talent but eventually gets boring.
