Stunning and Unique, June 12, 2009
This review is from: Woodstock - Peace, Music & Memories (Paperback)
What a beautiful book! I am amazed at the aesthetics alone. The pictures and text are presented on a tastefully decorative background, and yet it does not distract from the actual content. In addition, each chapter has it's own artistic border. This not only adds to the beauty, it's easier to find pics and stories you might want to share when pressed for time. A great coffee table book!
Woodstock Peace, Music & Memories is very different from most other books on the subject simply because it is a collection of stories from several people who were there, and clearly remember it. It is not the same old "official" stories and legends that have been retold countless times over the past 40 years. The personal accounts are engaging and offer a great insight into the experiences of many festival goers.
There are far more pictures than text. Hundreds of photos, and many, if not most, have never been seen before. Photo quality is amazing, including shots of newspaper articles of the time. The articles are one of my favorite parts...it is fascinating to read what was actually being reported at the time.
This is one of those books that you can flip through over and over. The quality of the book is unbelievable for such a great price and it's the best book I've seen about anything Woodstock.
Highly recommended!

The True Essence of the Woodstock Experience, June 13, 2009
This review is from: Woodstock - Peace, Music & Memories (Paperback)
When I finished devouring Woodstock: Peace, Music and Memories, I gave it to my 23 year old to have a look at it.
Woodstock never interested him so when he half-heartedly grabbed the book out of my hands, I thought that I would be getting it back in less than 5 minutes.
However, after several hours he wanted to sit down and hear all about Woodstock (yes, I was lucky enough to have been there). He had always thought that I had put "my spin" on the experience but once he read over and over again that other people had also been affected (in a good way) that maybe there was much more to Woodstock then he had believed.
Reading the stories and the quotes, he was able to finally see the picture that I had been describing over the years.
Although we have Woodstock the movie on tape and have other books that have been released over the last 40 years, it wasn't until he read through Woodstock: Peace, Music & Memories that he finally "got it".
Thank you for recreating and preserving the memories and enlightening new generations.
Peace

An Original Woodstocker Speaks Out...!, June 13, 2009
This review is from: Woodstock - Peace, Music & Memories (Paperback)
"It was with great expectation and excitement the day I unwrapped my edition of "Woodstock, Peace, Memories & Music" written by Brad Littleproud and Joanne Hague. I had pre-ordered it some months prior and finally it had arrived. My first impression was to marvel at how large, substantial, and beautifully illustrated the book appeared. I knew immedately I was holding something very special in my hands. The quality and photo layout is superb. The balance between photo and dialogue is exceptional. It comprised 255 pages of historical significance beautifully crafted in a volume that begged me to roll up with it and to relive wonderful memories which immediately jumped off the pages. As an author and someone who actually attended the event depicted in this book, I cannot but give it my highest endorsement. It is descriptive, educational, well written and masterfully compiled. This book is destined to become the classic reference sourcebook. An educational, pleasureable retelling of the event which defined my generation and impacted the consciousness of the entire world."
