We bought this as a toy guitar for my 2 1/2 year old son. He LOVES it! and we are quite happy with the purchase as well. It is standing up to a rambunctious kid and his little sister and it has a pleasant sound as well (mind you I wouldn't think this is much of an instrument for a serious musician but then for this cost - who would?). The downsides from a toy perspective are that the screws on the tuning pegs are rough which means it can scratch surfaces (ie coffee table) if the child isn't careful. Also we bought this for christmas and luckily received it a few weeks ahead of time so were able to put it up in the attic to air out outgas - the paint was particularly stinky when it arrived - makes me worry a little about what it was painted with -- since it isn't marketed as a childs toy they don't have the same regulations on product safety.

We purchased this as a toy for our two year-old, who loves guitars. He absolutely loves it! It's the perfect size for him. I don't think the overall appearance is high quality (crooked frets, streaks and smudges in the finish), but it does well as a toy. I don't know how well it would do as an actual instrument; we've tried to tune it, but it doesn't stay very well.

I bought two of these for my grandchildren who wanted to learn to play. I was an avid player at their age. Well, the ukeles will not stay tuned no matter how tight the screws are set. After one song, you lose your tuning. The girls lost interest in playing the chords they knew because they couldn't finish a song keeping the things tuned. both the same flaw. AdB

My review of the Woodstock Music Collection's Sopranino Ukulele. I forgot to mention the smell. Yes, as many reviewers have noted, it does have a strong turpentine/gasoline odor. It dissipates over time, but takes a while!

My son LOVES his daddy's guitar and won't leave his sisters alone. So because he's young I wanted a ukulele (since they're cheaper then small guitars) that was inexpensive and decided on this one. What a piece of crap! You can't tighten the stings at all... they come off! I didn't even let him touch it, it's so bad it's going straight back. Spend a little more money and get something better - only thing this is good for is a bonfire and I don't mean playing next to it. Why can't I leave zero stars?

I bought this Ukulele for my grand daughter who wanted "a guitar" but is really not old enough to get her fingers around the neck of a guitar. It is well made and played pretty well. It is pretty well made, stays in tune and plays OK. Not for the serious musician, but good for what it costs.

This would be a pretty decent toy if you are just looking to strum away random notes, but it's horrible if you'd like to actually play something. Other reviewers have pointed out that it does not stay in tune. This is very true...but I could deal with that if the instrument actually sounded nice. The sad part is that the fret board is so terrible that even when a string is tuned properly, the rest of the notes on the same string are incomprehensible. The A string maybe perfect, but when I try to play a C (3rd fret down) it is so incredibly sharp my tuner thinks it's a D. And it gets even worse closer to the body. If you are giving this ukulele to your three year old then it probably doesn't matter too much...they most likely won't be able to tell the difference and it's a good price. If you or anyone one you know plans on trying to play this thing though, don't even bother. Save up another $40 and get one of these:

Kala KA-15S Mahogany Soprano Ukulele

or just look around. There's plenty of good (and inexpensive) laminate ukuleles out there.

As a toy itis fine. I picked one up at an estate sale for $6 and that was an over payment. It sound bad, strings are terrible, it resinates terribly, the stain is terrible and gloppy, it is splitting at the seems, but as a toy it is fine, not an insrument at all. Those painted $20 ukuleles are better if you are strapped for cash and want a basic ukulele. But if you are looking for a ukulele shell out some extra cash and get a real one.
