Woodworking Metal Detector Lumber Wizard III
I wish I could get my money back. This item will not detect a nail even in one half inch thickness of lumber - wet or dry. I purchased it to avoid such nails in my planer and resaw bandsaw. It is useless for the purpose for which it is advertised and sold. What a bummer!

Lumber Wizard III,

I ordered this August 29. It showed up September 8. It arrived DOA! I called the manufacturer. To their credit, they did offer to send me a replacement. When I asked for second-day shipping, they refused. I live on the East Coast - they are in California. Sepember 16 the replacement unit did finally arrive and worked this time. I have scanned quite a few boards so for. It will easily detect large nails. It will NOT find a tack on the bottom surface of a fir 2x6. It WILL find the same tack on the bottom surface of 1x stock. The build quality is totally cheap thin plastic but seems fairly solid so far. The jury is still out considering the cost!
