5.0 out of 5 stars Woody Guthrie's American Song-Cast album, January 6, 2000

This review is from: Woody Guthrie's American Song (1994 PopeTheater Cast) (Audio CD)
I saw this performed when it opened in Detroit in the early 90's and in time I forgot all about it. A year ago my local Public Radio station played "Deportee" from this recording. How could I forget such great MUSIC. All the words and music are Woody's and follows him from the early 30's through the 40's. The dust storms, the depression, life on the road, hard times, and the Bowry in New York City. There are words here that will reach out and grab you in the heart and send those little shivers down your neck, music that will get your blood pumping, but most of all it's music("Worried Man, Ain't Gonna Be Treated This Way")that "cleared your head up". The interpretation of the music and the performances here are excellent. I highly recommend this CD
