A book for anyone who loves art and books.,

This truly unique book by Madalyn Eastus is the perfect gift for anyone who loves fabric designs, paper art, or artists' books. The moment I got my hands on this book, I wanted to see how it was put together. Each page depends upon the pages near it to produce a beautiful, and changing design. (Don't let the title of the book confuse you--this book isn't about dogs! Instead it comes from the definition of woof which refers to texture or fabric.)

From the warp and woof of the author's imagination comes this little masterpiece of woven textile motifs from around the world. But wait, we're not talking about yet another coffee table book with glossy photos. In a feat of paper engineering, this book's pages themselves are woven from paper (no glue!) into intricate patterns--each one borrowing from the next, and lending to the previous, to complete a motif. The interdependence of these patterns from seemingly disparate cultures acts as a visual world-as-one essay. And the "how'd they-do-that?" factor in the woven pages will beckon you to examine the book again and again.--Jennifer Burke
