4.0 out of 5 stars I would say BUY IT
When I first saw the t.v. ad for the Rug Stick. I thought how great would that be if it worked. There are areas of my carpet that are walked down and others that have stains. I have a 2 year old who has just about done everything to this carpet. I opened the box just expecting the worst and was suprised at how well it did work. 1.0 out of 5 stars Wasting of money. Not what I expected.
I got myself pretty impressed when I saw the TV comercial about this product. My carpet (by the front door) looks exactly like the one on the TV. The lady used the rug stick, and WOW... the carpet became like new.

Of course, I wasn't expecting that, but I confess I was expecting at least seeing some difference. One of those RENTAL STEAMERS does the job much...

The area of the carpet that was walked down was given new life. There were some stains that it did not get up right away. I had to repeat it a couple of times, but most came up with ease. It comes with a trial size of the foam but buy another one. The larger can of woolite heavy traffic foam seamed to work better. I know everyone will have their own opinion of how it works on their carpet but for me, it was a great buy.

We live in an apartment complex that decided light-patterned, berber carpet would be a good idea and started to get some dark, mystery spots. I was a bit skeptical, plus didn't think it would make a dent in berber carpet. Bottom line is you need to buy the refill right away, the sample size is pretty small. Work on a couple techniques, short scrubs in opposing and diagnal directions, and waiting for it to dry fully before vacuuming is pretty key. I didn't have a problem with it bending, you just have to be a bit careful, all in all, it exceeded expectations after giving it a couple runs. It's effectiveness is going to vary from carpet to carpet and stain to stain.

I finally found this product at Vons. With the coupon the cost came to $12 including tax. I used it on three floor rugs. I have three dogs and one is a puppy who seems to think the rugs are his own personal pee pads. I have been using the Woolite carpet cleaner that comes with this product for a while to spot clean my carpet and rugs. The rug stick is much more convenient because it covers a larger area and I don't have to get on my hands and knees. I was concerned that it would be flimsy based on a prior review but I did not find that to be the case at all. It also removed a stain on one of the rugs that I hadn't been able to get out previous with a hand brush.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product!, October 31, 2008
This review is from: Woolite 850B Rug Stick Carpet & Rug Cleaner (Kitchen)
This is the first time that I've ever written a review about anything, listen...I had a big brown stain on my carpet for months, from what? I do not know..I was so upset because it is a new carpet... anyway, I tried EVERYTHING and every product. I saw this advertised and thought well it can't hurt to try it..it was inexpensive enough. Yesterday, I used it and didn't have much hope UNTIL it dried and I couldn't believe my eyes...the stain was GONE!!! My cleaning crew was here this morning (they tried also) and they can't believe it either. So, whatever the case may be..,this product worked for me hands down!

5.0 out of 5 stars Did a great job for my set-in stains!, November 8, 2008

I must confess after I read the the reviews, some negative, I was hesitant but for the money I went ahead and gave it a try. Am I glad I did-I had set-in stains, either coffee or tea that someone had spilled and no matter what I did, it wouldn't come up. I did exactly as someone suggested, went at it from all different angles and really worked the foam in. I also discovered another larger stain when I lifted up a rug I had on top and attacked that as well. The stick didn't break, I didn't have to kneel down and the carpet is now drying. I can honestly say it looks ten times better than before-I can still see some faint stains which means I am getting the regular size can and going over it again-maybe it works differently on various carpets but I am so glad I purchased it. My rug really looks like new!

4.0 out of 5 stars works great for the money!, November 3, 2008
This review is from: Woolite 850B Rug Stick Carpet & Rug Cleaner (Kitchen)
this product far exceeded my expectations. i have used a Bissell Spot Bot for about a year and I have these 'water rings' in the carpet. i purchased the Rug Stick (downloadable coupon on Rug Stick website) for a little more than $10. It got the rings in my carpet up and we have berber. i noticed some of the other reviews weren't positive with berber...just be sure to use the rug stick at all angels...north, east, south and west. This will allow the foam to penetrate deep into the carpet fibers. I allow the foam to sit on the carpet for about a minute or two prior to rubbing it in. Also...allow your carpet to fully dry prior to vacuuming. I'm so excited about this product esp. since we love our carpet to look perfect on Thanksgiving. This product saved me hundreds of dollars that I was prepared to spend with a carpet cleaning company. I would reccommend this to all of my friends. the metal pole is lightweight, I used elbow grease and it didn't bend at all....some reviewers called it flimsy? I clean up messes daily and i have a cat, dog, a 1yr old and a very messy husband. this product is awesome because i no longer have to bend over to clean spills and messes...it gives your back a much needed break. Yesterday my son spilled a coke on the carpet...no sign of it today. Blot first though!

One of those RENTAL STEAMERS does the job much more efficiently.

Here comes my list of PROs and CONs:

PRO:
- It looks nice!
- It's a interesting way to dispense carpet produc directly into it.

CONS:
- Doesn't clean anything better than any other carpet product.
- The stick is made of weak metal, and has many parts, it bends when forced toweards the carpet, in fact I had to knee anyway to do a good job.
- The sample that comes with the product is not enough even for a bathroom rug.
- Did I mention it does not clean anything?
- The foam does not penetrate on the carpet, it stays on the top, the brush just spread them around. I had to use a hand brush to force the foam into the carpet.

** This item is hard to find on-line, but if you really want to test it (I do not recomend that) go to Safeway, they have it there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked great for the price!, May 20, 2009

After being bombarded nightly with rugstick commercials, I finally broke down and had to buy one. These commercials are on so frequently that even my 4 year old son recognized it and wanted one for his birthday so he could clean the rug! On to the review, I bought the rugstick at the local Wal-Mart for $13 and then used a $3.00 coupon so I paid a little over $10 for the rugstick and another $3.50 for a can of the Woolite Heavy Traffic. Yes, I was skeptical before buying and I really didn't expect it to work as well as the commercial glamorized, but let's be honest, what glamorized pitchman type product does work 100% as advertised?

Ready, set, scrub! I have a 10x25 light blue area rug in our living room that was cleaned maybe one time in 6 years with a steam cleaner. We have dogs that shed and have accidents on the rug and we have two children who have spilled or experimented with every element known to mankind on the rug. It was downright disgusting and I had enough. I followed the directions on the box and cleaned the carpet in 4x4 sections by pulling the stick towards me and the foam came out of all of the jets almost all of the time, but sometimes it bunched up. I scrubbed in four different directions and I must say the rugstick made the carpet look almost brand new! No kidding, the color came back, 90% of the soil and dirt was gone and the carpet was fluffy again and it smelled really nice. I used up the 9 oz trial cleaner can and almost all of the 22 oz cleaner can for a 10x25 rug too.

The stick was well worth the $13 investment I made as it did make the carpet look 100% better and come on, it was $13 dollars for the stick and a 22oz can of the cleaner. There are only a few gripes that I had with the product.

Did it lift up every stain?
No but I didn't expect it would.

Was it hard to use?
Honestly I did have to scrub pretty hard and you have to do it in the four different directions recommended to get the best results, I am 6'3 and I could have used another foot extension in the stick as I had to bend over a bit too.

Was the product well made?
I scrubbed pretty hard and at times I felt it wise to hold the stick lower down as it is very lightweight metal that could definitely bend if pushed too hard. The foam occasionally bunched up in the jets, but I just tapped it on the ground and all was well.

Overall though, I would definitely recommend this product as I am very satisfied with the results!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm realistic and I'm impressed, November 16, 2008
This review is from: Woolite 850B Rug Stick Carpet & Rug Cleaner (Kitchen)
This does not replace a home steam cleaner or a rental steam cleaner but for spots or hard to reach area this is awesome. Our home's stairs were a particular issue and this did a great job on them. Be realistic about what this is and what it is designed to do and you won't be disappointed.
